Host: eBay Staff with Craig from Borderfree
Date: Thursday, October 7, 2004
Time: 16:00 - 17:00 EDT
Location: Canada Town Square
Description: Borderfree is a company that helps make the border issues disappear for US sellers and makes the mystery of extra charges disappear for Canadian buyers. We’ve partnered with them because the service is fast and easy for our sellers – they simply tell Borderfree what the item is and where it was made and then ship it to a US processing centre. As Canadian buyers, you will know and pre-pay all taxes, duties and shipping fees on your item. Canadian buyers can also take advantage of Borderfree’s new Buyer Tool which allows you to get access to US auctions, even if the Seller is not registered with Borderfree and indicates that they only ship in the US. We will also be happy to respond to any questions or concerns Canadian buyers may have with dealing with US Sellers.
Hope to see you there!
Regards,
eBay

Unfortunately, at that point there is not much Borderfree can do. However, some Buyers have reported that sending a personal follow-up request (via eBay's Ask Seller a Question feature) has been helpful in cases where the Seller did not respond to Bordefree's initial email request.

As for your postal code problems, it's not a 'little big brother' scenerio - it's how the post office sorts mail - it also has nothing to do with BorderFree service or its search results. You have to take this issue up with your post office.
Sorry to hear BorderFree isn't working for you.

Unfortunately, there is nothing Borderfree can do if the Seller chooses to ignore the request. When you submit a request, it sends the Seller an email telling them that you would like to use Borderfree if you win the item. All they have to do is indicate whether they agree or not. But some Sellers just ignore these emails. Again, there is not a lot we can do - we certainly can't force the Seller to use the Service. However, what some Buyers have done is send the Seller a message directly asking them again to use the Service - this often works, but again, it depends on the Seller.
