Topic: eBay Workshop: "Borderfree Buyer tool workshop"

Host: eBay Staff with Craig from Borderfree
Date: Thursday, October 7, 2004
Time: 16:00 - 17:00 EDT
Location: Canada Town Square

Description: Borderfree is a company that helps make the border issues disappear for US sellers and makes the mystery of extra charges disappear for Canadian buyers. We’ve partnered with them because the service is fast and easy for our sellers – they simply tell Borderfree what the item is and where it was made and then ship it to a US processing centre. As Canadian buyers, you will know and pre-pay all taxes, duties and shipping fees on your item. Canadian buyers can also take advantage of Borderfree’s new Buyer Tool which allows you to get access to US auctions, even if the Seller is not registered with Borderfree and indicates that they only ship in the US. We will also be happy to respond to any questions or concerns Canadian buyers may have with dealing with US Sellers.

Hope to see you there!

Regards,
eBay

(note that you need to have the ITEM ID available).

We have been asked by Buyers who have used our Service "what if the Seller doesn't respond to my Buyer Request placed through Borderfree?"

Unfortunately, at that point there is not much Borderfree can do. However, some Buyers have reported that sending a personal follow-up request (via eBay's Ask Seller a Question feature) has been helpful in cases where the Seller did not respond to Bordefree's initial email request.

Another important note on the Buyer Tool that bears repeating - the service currently only accepts VISA. However, we are working on adding PayPal functionality very soon.

I live in a 'smallish' community with a population of 130,000. I've yet to receive 'next day' service unless a courier is used.

As for your postal code problems, it's not a 'little big brother' scenerio - it's how the post office sorts mail - it also has nothing to do with BorderFree service or its search results. You have to take this issue up with your post office.

Sorry to hear BorderFree isn't working for you.

I live in a little community of 1100 people about 100 miles north of Toronto and I get next day service, this has always amazed me. From Windsor or Ottawa or Toronto to me next day is pretty darn good.

Hi Secondtimesthecharm----I beg to differ with you when I went into the borderfree site and they ask me for my postal code I put it in BUT it was deemed wrong. Now, I went to the postal office in the town I'm closest to and the clerk laughed and said the BIG Companies haven't DOWNLOADED the new postal codes into their systems. I not only have had trouble getting into this (borderfree) but other sites that are owned by big companies it's THERE SYSTEMS THAT NEED TO BE UP DATED. When you put your postal code in and it doesn't work ,then that's only how far you get<><

I submitted a request to borderfree for a request to a US seller to agree to allow me to bid through them.

No reply, 5 days later.

Unfortunately, there is nothing Borderfree can do if the Seller chooses to ignore the request. When you submit a request, it sends the Seller an email telling them that you would like to use Borderfree if you win the item. All they have to do is indicate whether they agree or not. But some Sellers just ignore these emails. Again, there is not a lot we can do - we certainly can't force the Seller to use the Service. However, what some Buyers have done is send the Seller a message directly asking them again to use the Service - this often works, but again, it depends on the Seller.

Borderfree service (13) yellow star, Are you a person or are you the actual borderfree system? I e-mailed Carly, the borderfree contact #, Help ca. Help com. with the PROBLEM of updating there postal code systems and not a e-mail or word from anyone. You have 13 beside your id so I don't know what you are, but if you are the SERVICE, then PLEASE heed my suggestion ,and get your system FIXED as no one will be able to use it (rural customers) until it is fixed.

Buying from "Limited Goods" on ebay using Borderfree has been the most frustrating on-line buying experience to date. After several requests from LG for tracking information they eventually provided a tracking number but without any web link to enter it. DOES ANYBODY KNOW HOW AND/OR WHERE TO LOG ON TO BORDERFREE'S SHIPMENT TRACKING SITE TO ENTER A TRACKING NUMBER????
