are ebay shipping boxes still used

I've never seen boxes. EBay Canada and Canada Post had wonderful poly envelopes but they stopped offering them about tow years ago.

There is nothing to prevent you from using any boxes you want. The only exception is USPS Priority Boxes. Don't use those for shipping into the USA. The USPS is tetchy about that.

Also they are barcoded which may take your parcel on an unexpected journey.

If you're referring to the Flat Rate Boxes, no, they've been discontinued for a couple of years now.
