Just lost one parcel to wrong address, another just been refunded and still another overdue from Canada. This is not good for buyer seller relations for honest people like me. time consuming. Post couriers who don't get proper ID/ verification and leave items anywhere they feel like it. Wake up before I go mad chasing my stuff and go back to a postal system that worked and was affordable. Very annoyed.

You are in Australia and are posting to the Canada board.

There are complaints about the GSP-- two threads over 5000 posts long here-- with the main complaint being that the GSP/ Pitney Bowes is collecting duty and sales taxes that are handwaved by Canadian public service officials.

To be clear, these are legally required to be assessed and collected by couriers like GSP/PB, so they don't really have a choice.

The problems are that the maximum duty-free import here is $20CDN (~$15USD) and much of what we might import is duty free in any case because we have a long-standing Free Trade agreement with the USA.

There are complaints about slow delivery. Since I think of delivery from the USA as taking 20 days on average, I think these are a matter of overly high expectations.

There are complaints about damage. GSP/PB opens parcels and repacks them. Badly. Fragile and often valuable collectibles have been damaged or destroyed by this.

You seem to have learned how to claim a refund on Items Not Received. Frustrating but at least you are not out money in the long run.

This is not a GSP problem.

You should be talking (face to face) with your local postmaster. If Australia Post is not training its workers properly, she should want to know.

Canada Post employees are supposed to either deliver the parcel to the person who opens the door, leave the parcel in a secure location, or get Government photo ID + a verified address (like a utility bill) before handing over the parcel.

If no one is available, the postie is supposed to leave a notice of where and when it can be picked up.

Signature is only required by Paypal/eBay if the value of the purchase, including postage, is over $750USD.

If you have not recieved a parcel, you should be pursuing an Item Not Received dispute. Always say that it is a GSP item. That tends to get the refund faster.
