okay, just wanted to see if anyone else has had the same issue with ebay. I sold an item to abuyer in Thailand. he wanted it shipped the cheapest method possible. gave him the choice of airmail or surface. he chose surface as it was the cheapest. told the buyer before it shipped that it may take upwards of 10 weeksto arrive and he blatantly stated that he would likely have to put in a dispute for non delivery of item. this was before it even shippedto him. asked him to bepatient but he put in a dispute to ebay. i responded with my answer of how item was shippedand when. we used the shippingtools on ebay/paypal and because it shipped surface small packet you don't get a tracking number. i clearly explained all of this but to no avail. they refunded his money and chances are he got the item anyways. if we use their shipping tool, should we not at least have some protection from fraudulent buyers. i can't even put in a claim with canadapost because it was sent small packet. they don't do claims for those type of shipments. so my buyer likely has the item and i'm out the item and the money. i appealed the case and because i couldn't provide shipping tracking info they upheld the decision in buyers's favor. this sucks. i only sell on here a few times a year to help with heating costs. and i'm the one paying ebay the fees but i get no protection when this happens. if we use the tools they provide for shipping as well as pay additional final value fees on shipping should we at least be provided with a tracking number/verification from ebay to use to protect us when buyers scam the system. as sellers we are the ones paying the fees to ebay and paypal but we don't get the help when we need it. it's a the most messed up system for sellers that i have ever seen.

ebay dont look after sellers at all,and yess not a good idea to sell to a lot of countries, although ive been lucky at it,ive sold items to very honest people, tracking overseas is like 50 bucks to 100.00 which is nuts, but there are dishonest people everywear, and the dishonest ones get looked after, weird how that works, the worst part is ebay gives a strike againt you for those transactions, they point the finger at you, nice talk about add insult to injury, its seller be ware

he wanted it shipped the cheapest method possible. gave him the choice of airmail or surface.
He did this because he knew he would get the item eventually and his payment refunded within 45 days.
You were scammed.
And herein lieth the lesson.
You, the seller, are required to get the item to the buyer within 45 days, securely, undamaged* and as described*.
If you don't fill all of those criteria, your buyer can complain and get a refund.
You are not required to acquiesce to any buyer request once the purchase is agreed to. The buyer is required to pay the advertised shipping cost.
If he does not pay, you open an Unpaid Item Dispute.
*If an item arrives broken or the wrong colour, the buyer must return it with Confirmation of Delivery, to get her refund.
