feedback optional, yet negative given

Hello,

I just saw a negative feedback on a seller that stated-dont like how seller wont leave feedback till i leave feedback-

now assuming the item was delivered in reasonable time etc, if this is the only flaw in a transaction is it really fair for the seller to be faulted for not leaving feedback.  I only leave feedback once a week and sometimes Canada Post surprises me and a buyer will leave feedback before I do, I would hate to get a negative because I haven't had a chance to leave feedback yet.  What do the rest of you think?

forgot to say, since we can only leave glowing references for our buyers what difference is it if we leave feedback or not?

Re: feedback optional, yet negative given

I think there is no shortage of petty, vindictive people in the world just looking for a reason to kick someone.  I also think the seller you mention ought to nag nag nag to try to get that feedback removed.

All the same, other buyers will see that red circle/comment and feel sorry for the seller, viewing the buyer as a nasty disgrace.  After all, feedback is optional for both parties, and sellers can leave it if and when they want to.  Just like buyers.

I'm not surprised by what you saw, however.  I've seen negs left for dvd sellers by people who didn't like the movie.  It is discouraging how many people will blame postal delays on the seller and leave a negative because the item "was nearly a week late".  I recently saw a neg on an Irish seller's feedback left by an American hollering that the item never arrived, - but as the seller replied, the buyer only paid 5 days earlier, one of those days was a Sunday, and it's an international shipment.

Some feedbacks can be so awful they're funny, in a warped kind of way.  I get endless raucus laughs reading feedbacks.

But to your other point, - I see no reason why all sellers cannot do as some I have seen, ie., sweetly tell the truth.  Like the one who wrote "Nice to finally get paid at long last.  Many thanks."  See how positive that is?  But it also tells anyone who cares to look that this person did not pay until a case was opened.  The problem is that sellers are no better than buyers when it comes to wanting to lash out and hurt someone when everything doesn't go their way.

Well, that's a teeny bit of what I think. 😉

true, and thanks for your humourous take on things.  You are right, I have also shaken my head on many feedbacks, saw one neutral saying the hadn't got it yet and seller put, "perhaps if you paid for it I would be able to send it out"  now really....LOL...but even the most vindictive sellers don't really have the impact that the buyers do, we can only respond....doesn't affect anything....

Re: feedback optional, yet negative given

A seller can Los leave a response to any feedback received and while that response should be calm and factual,it need not be positive.
