The shipper will use a broker from his country to Export the items. This is NOT a big purchase so it will be delivered by the carrier chosen (Canada Post, UPS, Fedex ?).
You will be charged duty in accordance with the rate for that country and the product at a value that could be either of the Canadaian $ equivelant OR the Canadian value of what is being imported.
This means if you bought a car for $10, duty will be charged at the value of that car, not what you paid.
In addition, you will be liable for brokerage charges (the charges levied to clear your goods through customs) as well as Federal GST and Provincial tax and likely brokerage fee on collecting the tax as well.
If you plan on importing on a regular basis you should get your own broker and an import license.
You can start here http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/import/menu-e.html
This is the web site for the new Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and has tons of information to help for this and future questions you may have about importing.
