I'm new to the selling on eBay so i posted a few thing one was a xbox original with 2 remotes 1 steering wheel and 39 games now it sold the first time and the guy didnt send payment right away instead wanted a payment and total request. Than a few hours later I get a message from eBay saying buyers account was hacked or something along that line and I would be and all fees have been credited to my account and so on now a day later the item was sold again this time to a different person and the same request for payment and total request. but what I didnt notice was when he sent the payment and total request he sent a message so I checked with the first bidder and he did the same but different address but same Question basically same writing so today I get a message from eBay again that the bidders account was hacked and bla bla bla, now being a new seller on Ebay I only have a 10 item or $500 limit well this took a big chunk out of me $500 and I can no longer list the item. what to do now

First put both those buyer IDs on your Blocked Bidder List.

Find it bottom of this page-> Site Map-> M->Manage Bidders.

They may actually have been the same person. That should Block all fake bids from that IP address.

Now go to your Seller Preferences and Block bidders with Strikes for Unpaid Items, with Violations, and without active Paypal accounts.

The last is tricky, because newbies (like yourself) tend to be enthusiastic bidders and buyers, but often buy before they have payment set up. It's a PYA really.

Eventually you should remove it, but not at the moment.

You are very vulnerable at the moment. Frankly, you would be better not to sell high fraud items like any gaming equipment here until you are more experienced and have lots more protective feedback.  Have you considered becoming a Friend of Craig?

Use the rest of your monthly allowance to list smaller and less valuable items from around the house, or that you found at a smokin deal. Try later with the XBox.

Learning how to sell here is not fast. You have run into one (well, two) problems already. On the bright side, eBay's seller protections kicked in before the situation got worse.

Usually the biggest problems come up with shipping. That's a long road.

BTW, you do know that when you do find a legit customer, Paypal will Hold your payment for 21 days against your good performance, eh? That's the other side of eBay's protections, this time for the buyer.

@reallynicestamps

I did not know that there is a way to block IP addresses...I have blocked people before and had them come back under a different name.

I also doubt it blocks an IP address, because I had the same buyer coming back under another ID too, and she also never paid for her purchases.

Once I had somebody make 5 different accounts to make $0.99 USD offers on a $500 USD item. That proves that you cannot block IP addresses.

Hello Alex,

<<Once I had somebody make 5 different accounts to make $0.99 USD offers on a $500 USD item.>>

You cannot actually block an IP address, and perhaps that is because people in the same household may have very

different buying habits.  A kid might run up some purchases and not bother to pay, whereas mum & dad are quite

responsible.

If, however, you have a problem user such as the one you describe, you can click the Report a Buyer button and

explain what is happening, or if the the person is particularly troublesome, call ebay and tell them that you believe

the person has created multiple IDs to circumvent a block.  Or for that matter, whatever other prohibited behaviour

you are experiencing, such as an obviously false claim (abusing the Money Back Guarantee).

If others are doing the same thing, ebay may be able to lock off the IP address (although that won't stop a weirdo from

using the computer at work.)  I've heard ebay can do that with too many Unpaid Item cases where the user creates

multiple IDs to bid and not pay.  If reported every time, eventually the IP address won't work.

So I've heard.  I wouldn't bet the ranch. Smiley Happy
