seller cancelled transaction AFTER end of auction! How is this allowed??? (Item 111768682684)

I was the winning bidder for this auction. Final price: 1025$. Ended late yesterday night. Tried paying by hitting the Pay For Your Item Now button, but got the message to contact the seller to inquire about shipping fees. I tried that. Sent 3 messages. No reply.

Then today, I noticed the very same amp, same picture and all listed for 3999$ on a local ad website (Kijiji Montreal). See this link:

Contacted the number, spoke to what turned out to be the manager of a Pawn Shop. Told him that I won the auction and would like to arrange for payment through Paypal and in person pick up. He said he was unaware that one of his employees listed the amp and that of course it was a mistake. Then he just went and cancelled the transaction on Ebay!

How in hell is this allowed? Does this mean that anybody can list items for auction and then simply cancel the transaction if they're not happy about the final price????

What are my options here?

Thanks

Yes he can.

EBay recently decided to allow either the buyer or the seller to cancel transactions within a very short time (an hour or so?) of purchase.

This is a lot faster than the minimum of eight days for an Unpaid Item Dispute. And simpler than the Mutual Cancellation which is used when the buyer and seller agree that the transaction was just a mistake all around.

But every such cancellation leaves at least one unhappy party.

At least as the buyer, you can leave appropriate feedback. 'Cancelled and relisted at 4xprice off-eBay' for example. Calm and factual.

At the same time, you will be asked to leave Detailed Seller Ratings. A normal pleasant transaction gets Five Stars. The lowest Rating is One Star.
