Hello 'ch2ar4lie',

You say you had 'all the proof',  what proof?  If you cannot prove Delivery Confirmation (proof of shipping is no proof at all) then yes, sadly, the buyer gets free shoes.  You don't say how long ago you sent them or to where, and whilst there is a slim chance the buyer will repay you the money, I do not believe it will happen.  Paypal makes freebies easy and fun, so unless your buyer contacted you first and waited at least 40 days, - don't look for money coming back.

In future you may want to consider shipping with Delivery Confirmation.  It's expensive, and hence some new sellers only ship to th US and Canada in the beginning.  There are a few countries to which sellers will not ship at all.  If you had a DC number you could have entered that into the claim.  At this point you may be able to call Canada Post and inquire about an insurance claim through them.

No you didn't have everything you needed. Paypal requires not "proof of shipping" but "proof of delivery". For most overseas destinations this would be ExpressPost International which starts around $40 -- for an envelope.

So, you probably used Small Packet or International Packet. And if the shoes did not arrive promptly you probably cheaped out and used Surface shipping.

Surface shipping takes upwards of three months. EBay requires that the item arrive within 45 days, or the seller must refund.

Your buyer probably has not recieved the shoes. If you were polite and professional, and prompt with the refund, you can ask that the refund be repaid when the shoes arrive. Most buyers are honest and will cooperate if the seller communicates politely and professionally.

However, all is not lost. PHONE Canada Post and report the lost parcel. The nice ladies will give you a date when they can process your claim. Note it on your calendar (it will be closer to that three months from shipping mark than immediately.). On that date, PHONE back and make your claim. Be polite and professional, the nice ladies decide whether you get your full cost or only your postage refunded.

In future, if you are selling overseas, use only Air Mail services. Small Packet is insured up to$100 against loss or damage in transit, and approached nicely, the insurance clerks are very helpful. (Well, they are in New Brunswick. Of course, they are nice.)

If your buyer finds the price too high, that is his problem. Not all sales are wotth having.
