hi,
any advice would be appreciated. I listed a broken motherboard and cpu. I clearly stated that it was not working, for parts, and as-is, no refunds. I also said that I did not attempt a fix, just that it did not work for me... so I don't know what's wrong with it.
Buyer got it, and said it was broken and wants a refund. He misread that it was just the cpu was broken, but the motherboard is broken as well.
I replied that I did list is as both broken, and that I didn't try to fix it so I didn't know what was wrong with it. If he files with ebay/paypal, would they side with him even though the listing said it was broken?? I don't care about bad feedback, but I don't want to be out money for shipping to him if ebay rules I have to give a full refund. He misunderstood and did not ask any questions for clarification...
thanks

Item #?

I think that it might be 121073506343
The listing seems quite clear that the items were not working.
Even if ebay did side with the seller though, there is still the chance of bad feedback which doesn't seem fair..

If you don't take the time to slowly read the auction title, it is confusing. To me, it should have read something like I have put below.
ASUS P7P55D LE motherboard With Intel I5-750 CPU . MB & CPU are sold as broken/as-is.
Maybe someone else has better wording, but your titles need to be clearer in a case like this. You may have a problem if your buyer starts a case over this. You might be further ahead to have them return it to you ( with tracking ) and then refund their money. A negative could really impact your rating and your ability to sell without restrictions.

There is no confusion, ad is very concise and clear that item is broken and does not make any assertion that any portion of the item (CPU nor motherboard) will work.
In a real world slam dunk. In Ebay world, well, check with Ebay, but I will tell you right away that if you call four times, you will get at least three conflicting answers.

thanks all for your feedback.
Just waiting for a response from the buyer...

The listing states the things did not work. The buyer did not understand.
Why would anyone sell E-waste on ebay ?

I don't know about electronics.......... but for many antiques the parts have a lot of value to someone doing repairs.
sobie......... I'm not sure how ebay or paypal will handle this. In the past they would have refunded the buyer without much ado......
There have been a lot of very recent changes behind the scenes and while they are not in black and white for all to see, they are there.
Just saying"........... but I suppose you'd have the go through the whole "case" process before you'd know for sure.

Yes, the parts can be very valuable if you know what you are looking for.
Years back while walking past St Michaels College, a couple were going through the dumpsters for discarded computer parts. I guess the college were upgrading their computer systems as the dumpster was quite full.
They seemed to have hauled away a lot of parts in their Mini Van.

I see broken stuff get listed all the time so figured I'd take a shot 🙂 wasn't expecting much, I started it at $.99
if someone had the means to repair, they could essentially get electronics or whatever for cheaper.
