Hi all. Has anyone ever have a seller not accept a Paypal payment sent. When I check Paypal it shows the payment in limbo with the seller not accepting it yet. Any idea why this might happen? I have great feedback and have not been rude, so this has me confused. The only thing that I know for sure is the item sold for less than the seller wanted. I know this because I made an offer which was declined, so I bid and won the item for less than my offer.

Hi @andyandted - sorry that this has been such a headache!
If I had to bet dollars to donuts on this one I'd wager that the seller had an incorrect or incomplete email address entered as their PayPal payment address.
This isn't something that you can help the seller with - their best bet is to contact CS and have them review the transaction.
Thanks!

You probably have the right answer, but it is also possible if the seller is in the USA that he balked when he noticed he will pay 4.4% of your payment to Paypal for processing a non-US payment.
(It's where your PP account is, nothing to do with eBay or the currency you paid in.)
Drop him a Message asking for the date of shipping, the service used, and the tracking number.
Yes, he doesn't have any of those, but it might kickstart him into shipping.
Errrr-- he does ship to Canada, right?

Yes he does take paypal and is in Canada, hence my concern

i can't recall ever having to accept a payment from paypal. or having the option to refuse a payment from paypal.. When someone pays me, the money goes into my paypal account, i don't have to do anything.

Sellers don't have an option to accept or not accept payments so it's possible that this seller has the wrong Paypal address in their listing info so the money hasn't gone to their actual Paypal. Is it a new seller? It's possible too that they haven't linked their ebay and PP accounts though I don't know if you can even list if you haven't done that.

He has been a member since 2003, and I have tried to contact him with no response which makes this all so odd. Oh and when I check it on paypal it says "members name" hasn't accepted the payment

Do you have his phone number? (In the morning obviously. )

He could have been a member since then but new to selling or the email address could have been changed recently, entered wrong etc. When you click on feedback received as a seller does he have quite a bit of feedback?

Good point-- there have been a lot of recent reports of older, abandoned accounts being hijacked.
One way to spot them is a long lapse in feedback, and/or a sudden change in purchases or sales (like a sportscards changing to designer purses).
The attached PP accounts are often problematic, leading to encouragement to take the deal (which is usually Too Good To Be True) off eBay.
I know eBay will pass telephone and other contact info to members in a transaction but I've never had to do it, so I don't know how.

He has 58 positive feedbacks as a seller and is messaging me that he did not receive payment, yet on Paypal which has all his info correct(I checked) it states that "The seller has not accepted payment". I have never had an occurance like this, I had plenty in my Paypal balance to cover the purchase with no claims on my account. I really don't know which direction to turn when I contact Paypal I only get a form response on what might be. As I am not a new member or have a hold on my account the form does not apply??????

I doubt that it has anything to do with your account. Holds are placed on sellers account, rarely on buyers. Even if they were checking out your payment, the seller would see that payment was pending. You said that the sellers info is correct in your PP account. Does that mean that the seller did confirm that he checked his info in that particular listing and that the email address for payment is his correct PP email address?
When you contacted PP was it by email? It may be easier to figure out the problem if you phone them. If you go to PayPal.com , sign in, scroll down, click on help and scroll down again to see a call us link or a phone number. I’m going by memory so I may have missed a step.

Another way would be to cancel the payment and start again.
Let the seller know that you will be doing this.
It's my guess that his PP address is improperly entered, although with a record of successful transactions that should not be a problem.
