Why does Ebay allow sellers sell on the American site and the Canadian site but are from China

The title isn't the real question it is why are China sellers allowed to post that they ship and are based in New Jersey or Calgary Alberta but the shipments come from China..I have looked at MY seller and allot of his negative feedback is of them actually lying on their listings saying where the item is shipped from and where they are from...........and the kicker is that Ebay has done squat about it....to me they are just as guilty on helping the mail fraud with the seller....if he posted that he shipped from Hong Kong then I wouldn't have purchased my item that was suppose to be shipped from Calgary...to me that is FRAUD

You are not alone.

Some of the problem is dropshipping sellers who do not realize that Location means Location of Goods, not location of seller. Dropshippers do tend to be lazy , get rich quick sorts and may be doing this because they don't realize they are in Violation of the eBay rules.

The seller may be shipping Chinese made products from a warehouse in Guangong, but since he is in New Jersey he figures that's the right response.

Some Chinese sellers are in China, but warehouse their goods in the USA (often in San Diego) and while the goods and the seller are Chinese, the location is actually correct.

Item Specifics will tell you where the product was made. This is important if the value is over $20Cdn, since that is where duty and sales taxes kick in.

You can also look at shipping time. I'm pessimistic on delivery times, based on over 30 years in mail order. I allow 20 days from North America but only 30 days from overseas.

Usually I am pleased that delivery is faster.

If your seller gives more than 30 days for delivery, don't buy.

Now.

Your item(s) are late? Or later than you hoped?

Let's get you a refund.

The Resolution Centre is at the bottom of this page.

Open an Item Not Recieved dispute. You have 30 days from the last estimated date for delivery that eBay gave you to do this.

It is suggested that you contact the seller.

NOW- all you want from him is the date of shipping, the service used, and a tracking number that shows the item is already in Canada. (Because Christmas and labour disputes...)

If he doesn't supply that (and an offer of a replacement is a scam) ask eBay to step in and Escalate to a Claim.

If the seller cannot prove deliver (not shipping, delivery) you will be refunded.

If the delivery window was Dec 24 to Jan 30, you won't be able to open an eBay dispute.

But you can go to Paypal.

Their Resolution Centre is at the top of your PP account page under Tools.

The system is basically the same, but you have 180 days from Payment to open a dispute.

Again, if the seller cannot prove deliver (not shipping, delivery) you will be refunded.

And if you back your PP account with a credit card, you also have the option of the card's chargeback program.

But do the Disputes in that order, because if any of them think you are double-dipping by opening all at the same time, all will fail.

If the purchases turn up after you have been refunded, you can return the refund using PP's Send Money service.

Any of these will also put the seller on eBay's radar for the VIOLATION of incorrect location. You won't see much about that, but violations and defects mean higher selling fees, restrictions on the value and number of listing and even the closing of seller accounts.

And of course, you can leave feedback to warn future buyers.

Professional sellers, even little guys like me, detest this practice as much as buyers who wait patiently for sllllooooooowwwwww deliveries.

My biggest concern with this practice is it is moving these usually offshore sellers up in visibility  when a buyer is selecting the closest by distance. Definitely inaccurate and unfair to Canadian sellers playing by the rules. This is also giving those sellers added views to their entire catalog of available products. We have enough problems with high postage costs.

There are ways these sellers can be punished.

First, if you are not purchasing an item and know the price + shipping is impossible for a Canadian seller, you can report the listing. When you report, choose policy or listing violation, which is what this is.

Second, if you purchase and it doesn't arrive on time, you can open a case and the seller will be sans money and sans product if they can't prove delivery.

Finally, you can provide factual feedback for other buyers to (hopefully) read.

That's exactly what happened to me as I wanted to buy from a Canadian seller used the nearest distance search and it gave me 1 from Calgary Alberta...too bad that it was Calgary Hong Kong instead

I DO NOT buy goods made in China. It's really frustrating to try to track down the country of manufacture and not finding that, having to contact the seller. eBay- please just mandate that country of manufacture be listed in an easy to find place. Otherwise, I'm just going to be forced to join a boycott Made in China buyer's club. Thanks!
