I have absolutely no knowledge of, nor interest in, this Falwell person, doctor or not, but thank you for reminding us of a good quote:

The Bible warns us that the Gospel will be seen as ridiculous to many: “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing …” (I Corinthians 1:15).

1 Cor.1:18 says:"For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God."

It is nothing new to be seen as an idiot for steadfastly following Jesus Christ

It never made sense according to human wisdom (or logic) that the Saviour's death on the cross would be a victory (of salvation) rather than defeat...because:

..."Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men." 1 Cor. 1:25.

Your quote is NOT from chapter 3!! It would appear that more was torn off than we realized...

It is from Isaiah chapter 35 and verse 1.

Good Lord......20 bucks for a piece of cloth from Dollarama ????? Guess, it's the holy prayer the shysters put on it, that raises its value.
These clowns really do hurt the folks who do genuinely put religious programing on the air to help people, if there are any left that do that.

I was watching Jim Bakker's show at Christmas, well "flipping through".... I NEVER seen a more phony looking and talking dude in my life ! AND they were panning around with the camera, they have the donation address, taped to the bottom of the camera that's on Jim just so he wont forget it !!!

Anyone see the new show on A&E,I think it is, with Jim's Son ??? Forget his name, but he is a religious rebel.... the show previews did look interesting.

Actually Bob it was from the Church of the Holy Gerbil run by self appointed Rev. Jack Van Impe….or was it James and Betty Robertson and their constant hot line to some fellow in Africa asking for money….no, maybe it was Richard Roberts and wife who have one of the best tail gate wagon shows around. I’m sure it wasn’t Joyce Meyer, evangelist TV’s answer to Rosie O’Donnell. Neither was it Benny Hinn and his Beatles Naru suit. Needless to say I enjoy them all. It’s like a crash course on marketing, salesmanship and snake oil hawking.

Oldhorselover--lots of other patients in the cancer ward used to gather in our room to eat breakfast and watch my roommate's TV when Joyce Meyer was on. She was a spot of sunshine for that ward. Most people had their own TVs, but I think it gave everyone a sense of community, all of us from different areas, all of us bald, gathered for a little warmth and a positive message. I haven't seen her for years. Thanks for the reminder.
