Andrew, Valve, Susan--I am not equipped to debate anything on Christianity because I am don't have the knowledge, but I will be following the discussion with interest, and reading the Scripture you post.

(((MLM))) What a good idea for DD7. It makes sense doesn't it? DS had a terrible grade 4--the teacher was not interested, the kids were not interested. She retired, but there were 20 little boys who were now behind in reading. When we heard who they had for 5th grade, we were relieved. The teacher kept a boa constrictor, Oscar, in the class room, and if you had a perfect paper, you got to hold Oscar. If you handed in all your homework for 10 days, you got a pass to not hand in one paper. She was such a gift--all the boys from the previous failing class were not only up to speed, they surpassed the other classes. These little ones just need a little spark. For DS it was the chance to hold a snake, and to avoid 1 homework paper. Imagine if we had given him a rabbit--Bill Gates move over.

Snow flurries here this morning 😞
Hope its warming up elsewhere today. It is spring you know.
The post I left for valve last evening was one which I thought he may have an interest in (at least the lecture I listened to).
I know valve enjoys and posts Mr Falwell's notes and I thought that some of the points brought out in the Massey lecture were in line with some of what was in the article valve posted. A secular lecture by a highly respected acedemic that agreed in part with some of Mr Falwell's letter. Just thought it was interesting.

Aside from that I hope everyone enjoys this day. God is so good to us and loves us so much. If fact He loves everyone. That would include such people as Mr Bin Laden. I wonder how much we fully appreciate that. Do we seek in our hearts or even pray that someone will drop a bomb on his head or do we pray and seek in our hearts that God will look after his needs also? Some thing to think about. And no please I do not write that to cause a stir. It is just how I think. We are to love our enemies. And everyone else too.
So lov ya all and to all...have a great day!!

Just a few thoughts for those on this thread who seek to encourage others in their needs.

Just a cup of cold water
Given in His name
May not be great riches
Nor the trappings of fame

But for one of His children
Who receives it through love
It is like sweet honey
From the orchards above

It may be just a word
Or a smile of your care
But it tells to the other
That their burdens you share

That little act of kindness
Though small it may seem
Will be rewarded in glory
Far more than you dream

For when you see how the Savior
Was working through your hand
As He refreshed a fellow pilgrim
Who was travelling through the land

Only then will you see
In that great day above
That the little cup of water
Was the Savior's sweet love.

Thanks all for your inspiring posts, poems, biblical references, links etc. Lurking here renews my faith and trust in Christ that there is a wonderful domain beyond the sunset for all who believe. Hope everyone has a wonderful Easter in this time of reflection on why He suffered for our sins.

My feeble attempts at poetry....it is how He gives them to me to teach me lessons or reinforce things He is teaching me. Now the Christian poetry my daughter writes now that would be worth publishing. But she is like me. As it is freely given so freely give.

Julie yes that is so true.
I was reading your posts on your daugther. Our DD and her have a lot in common. Actually much is the same. Always place her in the Lord's keeping and He will look after the details.

Then again if we all could just do that...place our selves in the Lord's keeping all will work out well in the end ...whether we need to begin with Him in salvation or we are already along the road. In His hand there can no better place be.

Got to run for now. Enjoy your posts. And yes this is a good day the Lord has given.

Very good advice, Andrew. I am reminded of David...when he called upon the name of the Lord, he was saved. But when he didn't, he stumbled. Letting go and letting God...'tis a hard thing to do sometimes, yet when we do, we are delivered. :)

How To Forgive (WOW)

One day a while back, a man, his heart heavy with grief, was walking in the woods. As he thought about his life this day, he knew many things were not right. He thought about those who had lied about him back when he had a job.

His thoughts turned to those who had stolen his things and cheated him.

He remembered family that had passed on. His mind turned to the illness he had that no one could cure. His very soul was filled with anger, resentment and frustration.

Standing there this day, searching for answers he could not find, knowing all else had failed him, he knelt at the base of an old oak tree to seek the one he knew would always be there. And with tears in his eyes, he prayed:

'Lord- You have done wonderful things for me in this life. You have told me to do many things for you, and I happily obeyed. Today, you have told me to forgive. I am sad, Lord, because I cannot. I don't know how.

It is not fair Lord. I didn't deserve these wrongs that were done against me and I shouldn't have to forgive. As perfect as your way is Lord, this one thing I cannot do, for I don't know how to forgive. My anger is so deep Lord, I fear I may not hear you, but I pray that you
teach me to do this one thing I cannot do - Teach me To Forgive.'

As he knelt there in the quiet shade of that old oak tree, he felt something fall onto his shoulder. He opened his eyes. Out of the corner of one eye, he saw something red on his shirt.

He could not turn to see what it was because where the oak tree had been was a large square piece of wood in the ground. He raised his head and saw two feet held to the wood with a large spike through them.

He raised his head more, and tears came to his eyes as he saw Jesus hanging on a cross. He saw spikes in His hands, a gash in His side, a torn and battered body, deep thorns sunk into His head. Finally he saw the suffering and pain on His precious face. As their eyes met, the man's tears turned to sobbing, and Jesus began to speak.

'Have you ever told a lie?' He asked?

The man answered - 'yes, Lord.'

'Have you ever been given too much change and kept it?'

The man answered - ' yes. Lord.' And the man sobbed more and more.

'Have you ever taken something from work that wasn't yours?' Jesus asked?

And the man answered - 'yes, Lord.'

'Have you ever sworn, using my Father's name in vain? '

The man, crying now, answered - 'yes, Lord.'

As Jesus asked many more times, 'Have you ever'? The man's crying became uncontrollable, for he could only answer - 'yes, Lord.'

Then Jesus turned His head from one side to the other, and the man felt something fall on his other shoulder. He looked and saw that it was the blood of Jesus. When he looked back up, his eyes met those of Jesus, and there was a look of love the man had never seen or known before.

Jesus said, 'I didn't deserve this either, but I forgive you.'

It may be hard to see how you're going to get through something, but when you look back in life, you realize how true this statement is.

Read the following line slowly and let it sink in.

If God brings you to it - He will bring you through it.

(I received this in an email today from someone who I once bought an eBay item from. She liked my ME page and had emailed to tell me so.
