Everything I need to know, I learned from Noah's Ark...

ONE: Don't miss the boat.

TWO: Remember that we are all in the same boat.

THREE: Plan ahead. It wasn't raining when Noah built the Ark.

FOUR: Stay fit. When you're 60 years old, someone may ask you to do something really big.

FIVE: Don't listen to critics; just get on with the job that needs to be done.

SIX: Build your future on high ground.

SEVEN: For safety's sake, travel in pairs.

EIGHT: Speed isn't always an advantage. The snails were on board with the cheetahs.

NINE: When you're stressed, float awhile.

TEN: Remember, the Ark was built by amateurs; the Titanic by professionals.

hee hee heeeeeeeeeee :^O

His love is unquestionable -
its power unconquerable,
its impact unmistakeable,
its meaning undeniable,
its mystery inexplicable,
its sacrifice incomparable,
its price unimaginable,
its depth unmeasurable,
its absence unthinkable!

Just popping in to say hello. Thanks for the articles on forgiveness. It's something I needed to be reminded of. FIL is home and on the mend. DH & I took our girls over to see him on Friday (at his request-I wasn't sure he'd be up to it so soon!). He's tired and having a hard time with a cough (as you can imagine, very painful). Tomorrow his sister is coming to visit from England for a week! We're all very excited to have her come and are hoping she boosts his spirits.

While I'm here, I wonder if anyone has any suggestions/tips for sharing about Easter with a very inquisitive 4 year old. I don't want to freak her out, but I also don't want her to think that Easter is all about chocolates and bunnies.

It's weird, but for the past two days, I've had a memory about my grade three teacher sharing the Easter story with us. She cried when she told about Jesus' crucifixion. I have always remembered that. (I went to a Christian school which is why it was permitted to be spoken of). Anyway, that's all for tonight.

Jess: Thanks for the update on your FIL. I'm hoping his cough will get better soon and that his sister's visit will really perk him up.

As for the sharing the Easter story with kids, you can do a Google search online as there are all kinds of Easter sites specifically for children that explain it very well, in words that kids can understand. They also have drawings that you can print out for the children to colour.

(((JESS)))

Funny you should ask about the Easter story...A friend of mine and I were discussing this same exact thing just yesterday. We both felt that the crucifixion story is intense and very graphic for our wee ones, yet we still wanted to teach them about the sacrifice our Lord made for the redemption of our sins....but how?

Back in the US, I used to do musical theatre. One year, we did "Jesus Christ Superstar" and my oldest DD, who was 5 at the time, came to see Mom in the play. I remember vividly just how disturbed she was when she saw the crucifixion scene.

Some people may argue that the crucifixion SHOULD horrify us, but we're talking little minds that have a hard time grasping the concept of death much less the putting to death of a beloved saviour.

I remember using the KISS method with my older kids...keep it simple and accentuate the positive...I just explained that yes, Jesus died, and that was very sad, but he now lives (hallelujah!) and we don;t have to miss Him becuase He's always with us and hears our prayers.! And because He lives, we can live forever with Him in the Kingdom.

A mom was concerned about her kindergarten daughter walking to school. She didn't want her mother to walk with her. She wanted to give her the feeling that she had some independence but yet know that she was safe. So she had an idea of how to handle it.

She asked a neighbor, Mrs. Goodnest, if she would please follow her to school in the mornings, staying at a distance, so she probably wouldn't notice her. Mrs. Goodnest said that since she was up early with her toddler anyway, it would be a good way for them to get some exercise as well, so she agreed.

The next school day, Mrs. Goodnest and her little girl, Marcy, set out following behind Mary as she walked to school with another neighbor girl she knew. She did this for the whole week. As the girls walked and chatted, kicking stones and twigs, Mary's little friend noticed the same lady was following them as she seemed to do every day all week.

Finally she said to Mary, "Have you noticed that lady following us to school all week? Do you know her?"

Mary nonchalantly replied, "Yeah, I know who she is."

The friend said, "Well, who is she?"

"That's just Shirley Goodnest" Mary replied, "and her daughter Marcy."

"Shirley Goodnest? Who is she and why is she following us?"

"Well", Mary explained, "every night my Mom makes me say the 23rd Psalm with my prayers, 'cuz she worries about me so much. And in the Psalm, it says 'Shirley Goodnest and Marcy shall follow me all the days of my life,' so I guess I'll just have to get used to it!"

-John Mark Ministries

The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you; the Lord lift His countenance upon you, and give you peace. Numbers 6:24-26

May Shirley Goodnest and Marcy be with you today and always. :) Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

LOL! I love that Shirley Goodnest! I totally didn't see that coming!

Hi Julie! Dad is OK, but he has bronchitis so he is having a rough time with the coughing. He's on antibiotics now, so he should be in good shape soon. While I was there today with the two girls, MIL, Dad's sister, my neice and nephew, Dad was able to doze off in his chair, so he is still very tired. I think having his sister here is going to do him a world of good (it's always nice to be babied by your big sister, isn't it?)

CHURCH BULLETIN......

A father was reading Bible stories to his young son. He read, "The man named Lot was warned to take his wife and flee out of the city, but his wife looked back and was turned to salt."
His son asked, "What happened to the flea?" ;-)
