Welcome to a place where Christ should be exalted and "Self" should be abased!!

Welcome to a place where the BIBLE can be discussed rationally, intelligently, and positively without unnecessary argument!!

Welcome to a place where prayer can be requested and encouraged!!

Welcome to a place where positive and encouraging thoughts from scripture can be shared in a caring and loving way!!

Welcome to a place away from all the arguments, recriminations, and negativity of the outside world!!

((((Nancy)))) sorry you had such a miserable day, and an unpleasant night. I understand the frustration about parking. When we lived in San Francisco we came home one rainy Friday night and took 20 minutes to find parking, and had to walk 5 blocks in the pouring rain. DH decided it was time to move! (He is not noted for his patience.)

It seems most Mom's today don't want their children having sweet stuff (and for good reason) --so you are probably right about your neighbours. I do remember though how DD loved to go to the neighbours and bake chocolate chip cookies with her. Very different times then. It was just before the times when it became necessary to check Hallowe'en candy.

On a brighter note, hope everyone is having a good day.

sorry to interrupt....but....Christ had a mullet hairstyle?

So the truth is out finally…..he wasn’t a carpenter…he was a hairdresser.

Works for me.

We take our DGS out for for a few hours each Friday to give him and his mother a break--but it is a gift to us. I don't know his future, and I don't know how much time he will choose to spend in our world--but for now, this little person knocks me out. He is such a miracle--thank God for him.

Bruce: I'm not quite sure why you found it necessary to post what you did in this thread. I have as good a sense of humour as anybody else on this board, but what you posted above just comes across as mocking Christians and unless you're targeting someone in particular for something that they've said to you, it seems very disrespectful to me. Am I missing something here????

If I may....I think different people have different senses of humour. What is funny to one, may of course not be funny to someone else. I use to know a priest who told the wickedest jokes about religion and just looking at the people in the audience it was easy to see those laughing and those with stone cold faces. I always thought it was about a 50-50 split. Each to their own I suppose. Who knows.....Christ probably had a sense of humour as well. JMPO

Yup, I guess so. Coming from a priest though, you know that he values & respects his own religion but he can also make jokes about it. It's like if I make French jokes, because I'm French it comes across differently than if someone else makes them who isn't French, if you know what I mean.

Anyway as you say, different strokes for different folks. ..... going back to minding my own business now.

Oh....almost forgot....I don't think Bruce meant any disrespect. The strange person in the video was the guy in the cape running around looking for a bird. Once again JMPO

Your opinion Lucie is your business and equally there is nothing wrong with expressing that opinion in any way. At least you have an open mind.

Oh did you hear the one about Christ and the Pope on roller skates? 😉 ;-)....just pulling your leg.

A CHRISTIAN THREAD

I didn't think it was disrespectful to christians...

kinda disrespectful to batman since they had him crying...which just isn't right.

I'm catholic. but. My sons godfather is lutherin, my other sons godmother is anglican. My former Business partner was Baptists (lots of interesting dialogue there...no longer business partners but left amicably to pursue a different field)

come to think of it, when I sold real estate, the woman I teamed up with was Hindu...

i think if you re-watch it as a person watching a funny clip about batman on youtube, you'll at least smile.

I know all about being attacked about my Christian beliefs.

Once spent 4 hours driving in a truck with 3 evangelists, and I made the mistake of saying "Did anyone see Jurassic park at the movies?"

and boy did I get told what is wrong with the catholic church, one even screamed at me about the dead sea scrolls.

come to think about it....Contoversy seems to follow me...

I used to keep a red letter bible at my desk when I was still in the real estate biz. (if you don't know, a red letter bible is a bible where everything Jesus said is highlighted in Red) anyway, one of my fellow agents who was an athiest (boy I could get that guy mad in a hurry) asked my why I had that ##$$@ thing....so I said " It's a training manual...you should look at it.

Then he said something about Thumper and I said I hadn't seen Bambi in a while.

Then he got red faced and stormed off.

It's funny. (not really) I was having a lunch with a Catholic Priest and an Anglican Minister and the topic of aliens (from space) came up....oh yes someone at the next table was talking about star trek...anyway I said...I wonder if Soddam and Gamora (spelling) was a nuke from an alien...that's all I said....and for the next 90 minutes , these two preachers talked about the various parts of the bible that allude to alien beings.

as I sat there with my mouth open...finally I said...and I thought you would freak...

I have learned , over time, that there will always be people that do not agree with my views and there will be people that I do not agree with their views....so...I can either get into regular fights defending my beliefs...or...just laugh it off.

I choose to laugh. Ultimately in 100 years (maybe less) I'll be in a box in the ground...and I'll find out what's really going on.

and I'll be really upset if this life is just a dream sequence on some cosmic variety show.

If I offended....please, except my appoligies. My goal always, has been to catch people with milk in their mouths, and then, to make them laugh.

A CHRISTIAN THREAD

A man went to a barbershop to have his hair cut and his beard trimmed.

As the barber began to work, they began to have a good conversation. They talked about so many things and various subjects.

When they eventually touched on the subject of God, the barber said:

"I don't believe that God exists.."

"Why do you say that?" asked the customer.

"Well, you just have to go out in the street to realize that God doesn't exist. Tell me, if God exists , would there be so many sick people?

Would there be abandoned children?

If God existed, there would be neither suffering nor pain.

I can't imagine loving a God who would allow all of these things."

The customer thought for a moment, but didn't respond because he didn't want to start an argument.

The barber finished his job and the customer left the shop.

Just after he left the barbershop, he saw a man in the street with long, stringy, dirty hair and an untrimmed beard. He looked dirty and un-kept.

The customer turned back and entered the barber shop again and he said to the barber:

"You know what? Barbers do not exist."

"How can you say that?" asked the surprised barber. "I am here, and I am a barber. And I just worked on you!"

"No!! " the customer exclaimed. "Barber s don't exist because if they did, there would be no people with dirty long hair and untrimmed beards, like that man outside."

"Ah, but barbers DO exist! What happens is, people do not come to me."

"Exactly!"- affirmed the customer. "That's the point! God, too, DOES exist! What happens, is, people don't go to Him and do not look for Him. That's why there's so much pain and suffering in the world."

"Do not ask the Lord to guide your footsteps if you're not willing to move your feet.

I wish you:
Smiles when sadness invades you.
Confidence when you have doubts.
Comfort when you need it most.
Friends to light up your life.
Rainbows to climb up to the heavens on.

Thanks Bruce.

(((Jane)))

I've always liked that barber story.

It reminds me of a true story about a barber who became a Christian and in his new found zeal asked a customer (while holding a straight razor to his throat): "Are you ready to die"? LOL
