CUPW Wants Another Mediator, Not Back-to-Work Legislation

Abridged:

“On Saturday the Retail Council of Canada urged Ottawa to ‘bring an immediate end’ to the rotating strikes through back-to-work legislation.... Earlier in the week, eBay called on the government to legislate an end to the dispute in time for Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales events tied to the American Thanksgiving.

“(Prime Minister Justin) Trudeau said last week that ‘all options’ would be on the table to end postal disruptions if there was no progress in bargaining.

“A government source, speaking on condition of anonymity, said decisions on how to end the job action by postal workers could come as early as Sunday, adding that ‘all the options' does include legislating."

As early as Sunday.

Who else plans to spend their day sending emails to our elected officials in Ottawa? It’s a good idea to cc local media too.

I’m ready to do some straw polling of my own. Find the postal workers on the street to ask THEM how they feel about the hate coming their way. They’re at the mercy of their union overlords as much if not more than the people who sign their paychecks in management.

What CUPW listed as negotiation options on their website, for Rural and Urban Groups, and dated November 17, 2018

https://www.cupw.ca/

.....appears to be where CUPW  started on January 1, 2018.

The Government has decided to end negotiations  and legislate  everyone back to work!!!

I’d be mortified if these CUPW union bosses were the people responsible for my best interests as a union member. It’s like a mockery of everything unions ever stood for and I feel like the proud Winnipeggers who made history with the 1919 General Strike would be rolling in their graves.

This back to work legislation is what we will have in 2018.

If eBay  and all on-line sellers continue to address the importance of Canada Post, things could change dramatically in 2019.

All  Canadian sellers that sell on-line....  and that includes those that sell on eBay ... must get the attention  of the Government... and have Canada Post put into a situation  where Canada Post is in control.

The Canada Post Review was a start.... 2019 will be the end where on-line sellers, and buyers are the focus for Canada Post.

Postal strikes could become history......

There are many options for Canada Post.....   We shall see!!!

1919... and then ...  2019

On-line ...SELLERS are not a union.....  But we can make things happen.

and then there are the on-line .... BUYERS   .....

All we have to do is look at the backlog of parcels coming into Canada... and then telling international postal services... not to deliver parcels to Canada

Just look at what eBay has already done in 2018.....  and more will happen in 2019

There are a few differences, CUPW has scaled back their wage demand of 3.5% per year to 2.9%

CUPW Wants Another Mediator, Not Back-to-Work Legislation

November 18, 2018.... from CUPW's website

CUPW tried to contact Canada Post and the Minister of Labor... and received... NO... response from anyone....  Things were very quiet.

-----------------

It has been a very quiet day for CUPW ....  considering what CUPW has been doing ... saying.... since the beginning of 2018... the last 11 months.....
