To pukmis,

Could there perhaps be more than one Moose? I'll leave you to ponder that!

I would like to support dbcanadian's sentiments. Earlier this morning I was browsing the Ebay.com Town Square and found racist, disgusting posts regarding a certain ethnic/religious group.

Why is it that on CTS individuals receive warnings and suspensions for relatively insignificant offences (re: wiggling baby butt) while those on ebay.com can get away with promoting hate?

Many of us are frustrated with the inconsistency in moderation among the various discussion boards.

To dbcanadian,

To your question about board moderation, all the boards (US and Canada) are moderated by the same outside company. They are the ones that makes sure posts meet posting policy which leaves more time for eBay staff to then answer questions and concerns. So, I don't believe that this supplier uses a different standard for eBay.com boards vs. eBay.ca. In fact, we have adopted the same standards. What occurred for you is perhaps more circumstantial.

eco, it's unlikely anything can be done about the inequities between the .com board and the .ca board...unless the .ca pinks were to lower their standards. Doubtful the .com moderation staff will change their criteria.

I'm very happy with the moderation here and hope that never reaches the level on the .com boards.

Why compare them? We should be asking .com ebay staff whey those posts are permitted on the boards there, not asking .ca ebay staff why they arent being consistant and allowing that stuff here imo.

This really is an issue with .com ebay discussion boards.

Personally, I haven't noticed a difference, but then I don't hang out on CTS either.

To dbcanadian,

To your question about instant rebates for promotions, first of all, I'm very happy that the credits worked just fine for you recently. That's important to me. The reason we cannot instantly rebate right now is due to billing resources (people and software) within our billing group. We have been very happy with the positive impact of the recent Canadian promotions we have been running and will work with billing over time to move to instant rebates. We're just not there yet due to demand for internal resources vs. supply for them.

So, hitting the 'report' button on .ca, and hitting the 'report' button on .com...the complaint goes to the same place? It's not addressed by eBay staff dependant on where the 'report' originates?

Gary, are there any thoughts to developing a more advanced seminar? I appreciate that you would have to rely on sellers coming to you rather than you going to them but large scale sellers in Canada might be willing to consider that if there were a day of infor an stores marketing, cross-promotion, branding, etc.

I, for one, would even consider driving into sin-city for something like that.;-)

To the questions regarding offensive posts on the boards, we really ask that you hit the "report" button if you see something that is offensive to you or violates policy. That is the fastest route and a vital way to keep our boards healthy.

whether it is the ca boards or the com boards, does it still not have to be reported before it is looked at? I know the ca site is probably easier to go through as we have few boards, but the com site has many and I am sure that they could not possibly read them all and heavily rely on users to report.
I would also like to see the postal code on invoices, would make it so much easier.

To audioshack,

You just may have to take that drive.... We are working on a program that would be more extensive for more advanced sellers. Think of it as something to provide insights into your total business chain (from sourcing to fulfillment) in addition to eBay processes. More to come on this but we're aiming to announce something later this summer. Great question and we agree the need is there.
