Re: Found the perfect product.

You sell the pigeon

The buyer takes the pigeon to where they live.

The pigeon is given an opportunity to fly.

and....

The pigeon flies home......  To where you...... the seller lives....

Re: Found the perfect product.

But I think eBay might consider it a return if the buyer said it was a return and the seller would have to do a full refund.

Re: Found the perfect product.

In order to prevent the purchased pigeon from flying back home, the wings must be clipped , and in so doing the bird will not be able to fly back home to the seller of the pigeon.

Purchased males with clipped wings, will mate with the local females..... and the eggs hatch  and produce a new group of pigeons  that will stay at the new location.

Purchased females, with clipped wings, will mate  and produce offspring that will also stay at the new location.

Ultimately The purchased pigeon will moult and produce a new set of feathers, and could eventually fly back to the original owner.

The homing instinct for purchase pigeons is fixed  to the seller's location.....  In turn the offspring ... the new group of pigeons  will consider the "new home"  the buyer's residence as their place to fly back. to and live at the buyer's location

Why do this?  If one has a group of birds  and they breed year after year,  one ends up with a group of pigeons that is based on Inbreeding......  It is the same males breeding with the same females  and breeding with the offspring as well....  Inbreeding weakens the flock. making the offspring more susceptible to disease, and overall poor health

Bringing in pigeons from outside the flock is called cross breeding and  results in a stronger group of pigeons  because of hybrid vigour..........

Hybrid vigour is an important consideration whether it be pigeons.....  or other animal such as cattle, pigs, horses, chickens  and more

Hybrid vigour, the result of breeding pigeons from different breeding lines, different populations of pigeons,  produces a strong population. of pigeons in the situation presented

Inbreeding  will weaken a population, making that group of pigeons more susceptible to disease  and very much less healthy.

Re: Found the perfect product.

The greatest benefit to a population of pigeons would be to constantly bring in males from other flocks  and never let a male breed with its own offspring.

Bringing in males would create hybrid vigour....and maintain a flock of pigeons in a very healthy state.

.while ..... preventing a male from breeding with its own offspring will prevent inbreeding and result in a weakened group of pigeons
