When selling items you often get folk who question what you are doing  why you are selling an item why you have a certain price on something  etc. All legitimate questions  Part of selling folk need to ask these questions at times to get a better understanding of what they may purchase and I welcome Discussion

But every once in awhile you get questions or comments that "Hurt Your Head" or make it feel like it is going to Explode  not from anger or being upset but the silliness of them

Had it happen last Sunday

I sell at a Certain Outdoor Antique Market off and on on Sundays in the The Spring Summer and Fall.  This one reopened in June

I deal in Old Toys among a number of other items. Have been dealing in Toys for 36 plus  years

On Sunday I had a Hard to Find Clock Work Toy Elephant that is 100 years old plus I purchased a month ago.  Actually first saw this toy 28 years ago but the people did not want to sell it at that time. Flash forward 28 years later got a call from them saying it was mine if I still wanted it. Bonus!

This toy is stationary  but the Trunk Ears and Tail Move when wound up   My other half has named her Emily

I took it to the market put a fair price on it for what it is  (Not in the Thousands but is in the Hundreds) A guy approached the booth picked it up looked at it and asked a price. Giving it to him  I could tell he did not like the price I gave (Not a problem on my end)  He got upset with me raised his Voice and had a few choice comments for me.  As he was leaving could hear him mumbling   "That's The Price you would pay for a  Real One"!

People around us Broke Up. Not a problem he did not like my price but the Kicker was he thought you could buy a actual Elephant for that price

I had Aspirins with me. Good Thing That exchange gave me the feeling of my head exploding  but at the same time had a Good Chuckle.  I love selling in person in most cases Like the exchanges I have with others etc.  Most interactions are calm, friendly,  at times fun (selling old toys allows one to be silly)  and often informative Ones like this while somewhat intense  Keep Things Interesting.

It never ceases to amaze me how certain individuals never read anything, I use Item Specifics in all my listings and have done since they started they have helped me a few times when I need to clarify things with a shopper who did not read the listing beforehand, it happens more than we like to think...

This is a sample for one of my listings.

And, even with details like this, I will still get asked "What size is this item?" or "What is this made off?" or the even better "Are you selling all these items together?"

I usually just reply with the info and a little note like

"As indicated in the listing details, this item is.........." and then I roll my eyes.

Too funny.

I sold a poster a few weeks ago - listing had the size in item specifics and in the description.

Got an email asking "what is the size of this poster.

I often get questions when all the info is in the listing.

I can only guess that things don't always show up on a person's smartphone or tablet or the buyer just looks at the photos but even then I usually have a ruler in one of the pics.

I would say "the buyer just looks at the photos" in between all the "selfies" they are taking and filtering on social media...

...it's what we raised to become young adults today, and a few old ones too! We all have a few in the family...

I had someone asked me if the cookie-shaped keychains I was selling were edible...

Also had someone asked me which region the DVD I'm selling was... except I'm selling a folder, not a DVD.

Both of these were a few years back though, I don't think shopping with smartphones were that popular yet.

In my business we deal in Antique Funereal items from time to time.   Primarily Coffins and Coffin Plates.  Coffin plates have the name of the deceased on them and usually were acquired in pairs. One to be used on the Coffin and one the family got keep at home if they wished to do so

We had a Circa 1900 child's coffin  Not for everyone I know but they are out there and are collectible

This was picked from between the walls of a Old Odd Fellows Lodge in SW Ontario when being demolished.  This was not Used. ( I do get folk asking at times if I get them at cemetaries)  The Odd Fellows used Funereal Items in their Ceremonies etc.

When we first started dealing in these I was hesitant I was not sure what the reaction from others would be.   I find about 90% of those that see them  have no problem with them  may not be their cup of tea but are fascinated by them and appreciate seeing them and learning about them

But there are the 10% that get quite upset and I have heard about it from time to time

Had the Coffin out at a market one day and it was on the table.  I had 4 Funeral name plates positioned on top of it.

A guy approached me and boy was he upset about the plates.  Actually started yelling at me about them. He was intense.   This went on for about 5 minutes or so  I just stood back and listened with those around me.   Chuckle   I looked at a guy beside me and said to him "You know I do not think he realizes these are on a actual coffin" . He agreed. Thought of telling him that but thought better he was already very upset with me and thought this info would really send him over the deep end.

Everyone around me broke up after he left

Also bought a Circa 1880 Wicker Carrying Coffin one time.   This was out In Manitoba   went to a Antique/Yard Sale at a church. Had seen it hanging on the wall of a Interpretation Centre they had the year before They decided to sell it

Walked in to the hall early saw it and asked if it was for  sale. they replied yes but the person who knew the price would not be there for about a half an hour

That was it  I decided it was ours and stood guard over it. I actually growled at people who came near it.  She showed up gave me the price and had the cash in hand before she finished the sentence

Great for me then I realized I had to get it into our Vehicle It was jam packed from picking. Had to unpack the Vehicle and rearrange it. Got it in with a few inches to spare

As we were leaving the Folk at the Church thanked me and said we sure hope you come back for our next one   I explained I was from Ontario and would be back but may be awhile

Told me everyone loved my reaction and it was very entertaining to watch me growl at folks that got to close

Sold it a few months after getting it back It is now sitting in a 1880's  Horse Drawn Hearse on the guys front yard

No kink-shaming, but... I guess that's why they were called the Odd Fellows.
