do you think some seniors might die sooner if they go to a nursing home?
I don't know. I guess you would have to check out the home first. Is it a large hospital-like home where the employees don't have time? Do they have recreation facilities? Do the elderly that are already there look happy/satisfied, or are they just sitting around being ignored?
My grandmother was in a room with another elderly lady. She was allowed to bring many personal possesions that were dear to her. The room was a conglomeration of things that both inhabitants held dear.
Like I said, she had Alzheimer and I don't believe she really knew where she was. She got along with her room-mate pretty well.
Once she became bed-ridden, she was taken care of as far as we could see. No sore spots from laying in the same position or from not being kept clean.
Was she happy? I don't know. She never complained.
