Because taxes have been part of the deal of making business in Canada for decades, and if you didn't pay them, then you were evading taxes (which is no a good thing, in case you didn't know). You were lucky to not pay them for a long time, and now you act like crybabies because the regulation is finally there to oblige you to follow the rules...

We are not in the legal obligation to collect taxes when selling under $30k/year, there is no taxes evasion
This discussion is so strange and full of madness i'm done here

and this new taxation process isn't about sellers collecting taxes, it's about BUYERS paying sales taxes for online purchases.Yes there are trickle down affects to sellers but the skuy is NOT falling and this is NOT the end of the world...
Perhaps you've never experienced paying 20% VAT on purchases on a trip to Europe...
a sympathetic ear to buyers would make more sense than sellers complaining about a few more dollars having to be paid in FVFs..
However, there are some choices, so buyers and sellers will do whatever they need to do going forward...

It will be taxed repeatedly every time it gets sold until it's too old and thrown in the tip!
Then you will pay a disposal fee when the waste fees go into effect on none recyclable items...
