This started about a week ago and it's annoying, it jumps to the bottom of the page and if I hit return to top it jumps down again.
I could live with it once per visit but it plays a few times at what seem to be random intervals.
At some point that Mac rainbow wheel starts to spin and thing jam up.
All I can do is quit/force quit Safari and start over.
Anyone else seeing this?

I signed out of eBay, trashed the bookmark, signed in again and bookmarked the new sign in page. No more problems.
Thanks all for your suggestions.

No problems here. Have you scanned for malware?

Have you installed AdBlock Plus or another blocker?

I haven't done anything yet I wanted to see if anyone else was having this issue.
I'll talk to the guy at my computer store.
(never mind the watchlist page , it came on as I am typing this and keeps repeating, even overlapping itself)

I hear you loud and clear. This isn't happening to me now but it did about 18 months ago when my Safari browser was, unbeknownst to me, slightly out-of-date. Exactly what you describe. Go to the app store and download and install the latest version of Safari and that might fix it. Oh, and def install an AdBlock program. You can find a reputable one in the app store too. Report back if that works.

Well, too good to be true, the ad is back, Epipen and Viagra, both Pfizer products
I called Pfizer and they told me to contact eBay.
I insisted it was Pfizer's responsibility to control how their ads were being distributed and he did register a complaint from me.
Now, any suggestion on the best approach amongst the many channels to contact eBay on this?

I'm not positive how it works but my guess is that ebay sells space to google or other search engines and they in turn put whichever ads they want on there. I just noticed that ad the other day when I used IE. Normally I use Firefox which has an ad block extension set up and I don't notice any ads. I normally just ignore ads but this one is annoying because it's a video with sound. Have you tried putting on an adblocker, that's what I will be doing on IE.
I don't have any suggestions on the best way to contact ebay about it. I wish they didn't allow any type of video ads to automatically open here.

Video with sound?
Well, that just lost every potential customer who sneaks a look at eBay at work.
Including the goodie two shoes who only check in during lunch or coffee breaks. Then the Viaga add blasts out.
AdBlock.
