Re: February 19 2020 Weekly Session

Hi  I don't have anything listed yet although I have a shipping question. I wanted to offer US shipping and my items were in very small boxes and are light - they are doll clothing items. It offered small packet air mail for US - which was 12 dollars shipping. That seems really cheap for Canada Post shipping to the US. Is that only for bubble mailer type bags? or can small light boxes be shipped that way? it also did not offer tracking or insurance.

Another question I have is when to list the 50 free listings. I don't have a store as I am just starting out. Are they for 30 days or less now? Is it common to list them at the end of the month or the beginning?

Thanks for any help you can give. I hope I am posting this in the correct spot if not feel free to correct me.

Sherie

Hi, welcome to ebay, and it's really nice to see someone checking things out before they start listing. Many of your questions are great, but they would be answered better in the sellers forum. This one is only open for a couple of days then closed.

Your 50 free listings is a monthly allotment that starts from the beginning of the month, and no they do not carry over, the unused ones are gone.

There are many experts in the sellers forum who will fill you in on how to ship, there are many who send with tracking, and a few who use what is called "cookie jar" insurance when they send w/no tracking.

Please join us over at the sellers forum (seller central), where the many nuances regarding ebay, can be gladly given to those who want/need to learn.

This forum is to ask an ebay Rep(Tyler) any question we have regarding bay's policies.

My question, is if I signed up for a starter store on .com, would I still have the monthly allotment on .ca, and could I put items "on sale" on .ca and .com?

Oh my, not sure if this has been asked, but just wondering why when I want to go back to my ebay page via the little "back to my ebay page" symbol at the top of the page, I have to sign in again and get sent to the "my ebay" page on .com not .ca. Please advise, tia.

Re: February 19 2020 Weekly Session

Tyler, is there some way to appeal a decision or at least get some more information about a decision via email? I picked up six strikes about eight months ago or having to do out of stocks after misplacing a box of cards. I'm not disputing the strikes (my fault, clearly), but I am having trouble understanding the process of how the strikes were just applied now (which led to my account being limited) and how long it will be before they drop off.

I have spoken with two different eBay CS reps. The first didn't know Canada was listed under US globally (neither did I, but she's paid to know that) and couldn't give a timeframe. The second just read to me from the page I was looking at and also could not give me a timeframe or any details.

If this is the wrong place for this, I apologize, just don't want to waste more time of mine or eBay's on the phone not getting answer or if there's no point in it.

Thanks!

@bentley65

Hi Sherie!

I agree with AMC, it's really great to have you here and I'm excited to hear about your plans to sell. 🙂

You can connect with other sellers who are great with tips and tricks with regards to shipping by posting your question on the Seller Central board (link here).

When it comes to the 50 free listings - if you choose the Fixed Price option, they will renew the same day every month (unless they sell or you end them). This would use your allotments every month, and they don't roll over. Thanks!

Hi @amcdc79 - starter stores are not yet available on .ca, so the tools and allotments that you have access to with that subscription wouldn't carry over.

With regards to the login issue you describe, would you get me a bit more detail? Typically if you were working on the .com side or your default view is a page that's only available on .com it would route you there.

Otherwise I'm as stumped as you. If you start a thread on Seller Central and tag me to it with a bit more context (does this happen every time you click that link? Just on specific pages?) I'll see what I can find out!

Hi @douglauriesports - I'd definitely recommend contacting via social media. The teammates there are experts and I've always enjoyed working with them (it's also the team I came from before I started this job, so I may be a bit biased).

You can contact them via Facebook or Twitter - just send them a private message and let them know a bit about the situation. If you include your registered email address, first and last name on file and Post code in your first message they can get you details a lot quicker too.
