Hi Tyler,

I would appreciate any update you can give regarding the shipping calculator being wrong since January for Small Packet USA.

Thanks

Re: March 31 2021 Weekly Session

The classic seller hub is no longer working for me.

Specfically

- You cannot end active listings. When you try it just refreshes the page and nothing happens.

- You cannot delete Unsold/Sold listings. When you try to check them under the Unsold header and than use the delete button it  just refreshes the page.  You also cannot delete sold listings (the same thing happens)

- You can SOMETIMES edit active listings but other times the website prompts you to log in again and when you do it brings you back to the seller page.

As you can imagine all this is very frustrating because it impedes the basic functionality ebay has as a website that sellers cannot even use properly anymore!

Re: March 31 2021 Weekly Session

Hi Tyler,

Thanks for the recent changes to the new boards, it makes it much easier to read. 🙂

I do have one more suggestion...

When I reply to a thread the title of the thread becomes bolded again so even though I've read the thread and my post is the last reply, it still looks as if there are new posts. On the previous board format it didn't do that so it must be possible to change that?

Re: March 31 2021 Weekly Session

I've noticed that on ebay.com that the "Print shipping labels or invoices" feature has changed to "Print packing slip and more".  With this new rendition I could not find any way whatsoever to simply print the buyer's address.

The vast majority of my shipments are via letter mail and usually I just print a combination of the buyer's address and invoice/packing slip on one page and then physically cut the address and tape it to the envelope while the rest of the printout is placed in the envelope.  The system works marvelously (and has for many, many years) and is quite flexible, allowing me to add extra notes to the packing slip, such as explanations for partial refunds and discounts and welcoming back repeat customers.

The new system on ebay.com does not allow for custom notes to be saved and it appears that the only way to mimick the good old way of doing it is to print off the packing slip, open the order details to retrieve the buyer's address, copy the address into a text editor such as notepad, and then print the address onto the packing slip (hopefully if there is space to do that) or worse, print the address onto another piece of paper.

This seems to be a lot of work and a waste of time and paper.

Is ebay.ca going to follow suit with this improvement ?  I certainly hope not!  Please tell me that ebay.ca is going to leave this perfectly functioning feature alone and focus only on fixing things that are broken.

Does ebay believe that mail order via letter mail is a thing of the past?

Re: March 31 2021 Weekly Session

I do something quite similar and it would be very frustrating to lose the ability to copy and paste the address from the packing slip as it is a pain to get the address from the order details.  Actually, I often copy  a portion of the packing slip and paste it on to a pre-written thank you note.

Tyler what is the purpose of changing the format so that we can't even copy and paste  the contents of the packing slip?

@pjcdn2005

@imbuzzy

Pulling the customer address from Order Detail has been "grouchy" for many months. Easiest way to do in either a single pass or line by line is from the item has sold email which seems to have now returned. 2 separate emails vs 1 combined email.

If you would like to include a note on your packing slip you can edit within the print packing slip tab from your orders. (Either for all packing slips or each individual packing slip)Edit Template.JPG

It is also possible to customize labels and shipping notifications from settings in Shippo.

PS. See post 4  above for challenges with using cut and paste within eBay.

Re: March 31 2021 Weekly Session

Sorry to pile on , but I too am going to plead imbuzzy's case. Please do not alter or remove any of the current packing slip functionality.  Legions of lettermail sellers rely on the current format.

Also, several months back someone thought it a good idea to suddenly include the buyer phone number when copying a buyer's address from within Order Details. Legions of lettermail sellers do not want to paste addresses that include phone numbers on their envelopes or labels. Currently, I am forced to first copy and paste to a text editor, remove the phone number, then copy and paste again .... not helpful.

Hi @flyhooks4less - I got an update on this today:

It's supposed to get fixed this week. There was some blockage due to GSP which was removed this morning.

I don't want to be the one that continually says "coming this week" but that's what I've got to give you at this point. Thank you for keeping focus on this and for continually pinging me on this (I'm not able to see the shipping screen from your account any longer*, so I can't check on this myself).

Thanks!

*A change I don't disagree with, security is important, but it makes things tricky sometimes.

Hmm..blockage due to GSP.  What does gsp have to do with Canada Post rates?  Makes me wonder if they are on the same page as we are.

Hi @pjcdn2005 - I'm so glad it's helpful. The latest reply floating things back to the top was something I was very pleased with.

Re: bolding, that's a fair question. The way Khoros describes the functionality it makes it sound like it's an 'all or nothing' feature. Is it something you find worthwhile otherwise? I don't want to keep things confusing if it's not somethign you'd otherwise find helpful.

Hi @imbuzzy - can you elaborate for me what exactly changed about the process? I think your process sounds very clever and useful. From @pjcdn2005's post it sounds like you're not able to copy/paste any longer? Am I understanding that right?

As to whether or not the same changes will be coming to eBay Canada, I can't answer that definitively. I will ask however and if I get a response I'll let you know!

Re: March 31 2021 Weekly Session

As it stands now when I see a title bolded I have to first look to see who was the last poster. If I was the last poster than I know that Ive read it so I caneither ignore the thread or else go into it just to take off the bold.  Of course if I just ignore it that means that every time I check the board, I have to check again to see if it was me that posted last or if there really is a new post.  So to me it would be very helpful not to bold the title when I post but I can't speak for anyone else.  But since it didn't work like this before the board changes and Khoros has been around for a while, it doesn't make sense to me why it has to be all or nothing now.

Ok I'll stop posting now. lol

Hi @lotzofuniquegoodies - the HTML error is something we're working with Khoros to address. There isn't a current time of resolution at this point.

The other aspects of your post I don't have a lot of info on at this point in time. If I get an update I'll let you know!

Re: March 31 2021 Weekly Session

Instead of running envelopes through a printer to print the address, or print address labels to stick on the envelope, or be old fashioned and pen the address on the envelope, eBay has provided us with a feature where one can print off the address in the top section of the packing slip.  One can then cut (talking about scissors here - not mice) that section off and tape it to the envelope.

eBay.com has taken that feature away and makes letter mail sellers play with the mouse before they can use the scissors.  Time and paper are frustratingly wasted.

Thanks for the clarification @imbuzzy - still haven't heard whether or not the new document options will be brought to eBay Canada but I'll make sure the way folks use these now are shared!
