For anyone that hasn't had the pleasure of an MP Cancelled Transaction where you give a immediate refund, please be warned. It's an interesting, painful experience. The eBay math has something to be desired. (In speaking to eBay CS cancellations processed within 48 hours are supposed to process immediately.)
I had a customer earlier today request to cancel a transaction shortly after payment and then change their mind. Unfortunately once a cancellation has been requested there is NO way to undo. Your only solution is to accept the cancellation and relist when you are advised it has completed.
The cancelled transaction will display in your Payouts as a negative balance with a duplicate transaction being processed(Mine show processing on both to be completed by April 25, 2021). In the past any fees that were paid by the seller to eBay showed as refunded portion to buyer along with your profits combined to complete the refund . (We won't quibble about the .30 transaction fee). This is no longer the way with MP. The email you receive will state the refund has been processed(April 22, 2021).The buyer will receive a similar email advising them that the cancellation has been approved. In the email that I received the amount refunded is displayed with a comma versus a decimal point with the breakdown(split) not expressed. Regarding the comma/decimal in the past this has been known to cause a issues when bidding in an auction or even with placing an offer. 10,00 will register as a bid of $1000.00. Most important to catch before hitting enter.
So even though the refund has been approved and credited to the buyer, I am showing a negative balance of -$95.00 with $235.00 processing ($95.00 + $95.00 + $45.00 (separate additional transaction). Since enrolling in MP I have yet to have a negative balance.....until now.
Shouldn't the cancelled transaction process immediately and be attached (reverse) the original payment? Considering no funds were actually received and sent to payouts? If anyone has a different understanding of this process, please share. It will be greatly appreciated.

PS. Fortunately this transaction did not include State or VAT tax. Only Price + Shipping. I can only imagine how messy this would have been if it did.

With a cancellation the refund is processed immediately....
The buyer receives the refund.... quickly
Then the original payment by the buyer is processed..... and the Order amount of 30 cents is deducted.... It is 30 cents plus GST or HST depending on which province the seller is located
I had a cancellation where eBay went back to my bank account to get the 30 cents plus GST = 32 cents.
Everything with respect to the cancellation occured in an orderly manner.... No probems

I have been using Managed Payments since August 2020.
Lots to learn and easy to follow what is happening. No problems.

My concern is the refund is able to be processed immediately. The original transaction takes 2 to 3 days(weekend involved). That is a problem.

I don't really understand how this part works but I have read from others too that the refund to the buyer is not ever taken from the pending funds which can cause problems in some cases.

A buyer/seller should be able to cancel if they change their mind or update if circumstances change. For this particular situation, in principle it should be a straight-forward cross the board reversal.
With most eBay features an un-do button appears was never a consideration. And not having anything in place when a buyer has been refunded for a late delivery and the item arrives and would like to re-pay is definitely poorly thought out. It would be a Win/Win/Win situation. Seller gets paid....Buyer has their item....Ebay gets their fees.
