Hi there. A quick question about search standings. I have 2 items listed for sale and when I search them they come up as 1 and 2 in search results. I am wondering if everyone sees the same results as 'best match' or does everyone get different search results?
Cause if we all get the same results I am wondering how I could rank near the top in the search results? ...
If I search 'halifax citadels' I get 68 results & my listing is #1 (Halifax Citadels AHL American Hockey League Set of 22 Cards.)
If I search 'hockey night in Canada' I get 325 results & my listing is #2 (2 CBC Hockey Night in Canada Official NHL Hockey Pucks).
I was just curious if everyone gets these same results. And if so... might these be Aliens from our distant past? .. JK, If so how could I be so high up in search results? There is probably a tonne of things that alter your placement in search standings.
The best I can think of is I received 3 positive feedbacks within the last 3 days. I never could figure out search engines, but I always seemed to do good in them. I've had a few videos on youtube get millions of views over the years. And when you type some basic words in google some of my videos come up.. Strange.. but true.

Yes I see the exact same search results.
This may be due to the fact the listings are "newly listed" and, as such, receive a temporary boost to the top of the listings.
Take another look tomorrow and see what happens..

all sellers are trying to be at the top but there's only one #1 and #2 and so on
1st guess; i think it works of having the combination; 100% FB, power seller, top rated seller.
2nd guess; whatever makes ebay to most money is at the top
it just a guess, i certainly got me scratching my head.
it boils down to ebay being far to cluttered to find anything.

This is simple, you listed as auction while there are hardly any auction format listings for 'halifax citadels". Yours is the first to end. Ebay gives more exposure at the front to auctions. Change it to FP at the price you want and you will likely be considerably lower

The answer is....it depends!
A lot of factors are involved in ranking in Best Match, some of these are related to previous activity by the buyer who is searching so if the planets are aligned the results that one buyer sees may be somewhat different than the next buyer using the same search terms.
