I rarely have Canadian dollars in my Paypal account but yesterday someone paid me in C$.
Is there amy benefit to keeping a C$ balance in paypal to use for shipping labels?
Anything to be gained by not converting $US.?

The credit card interests is not an issue with me. I'm very diligent about paying my bills ahead of time. I owned a student credit card since 19 (not anymore now of course) and I never once got dinged for late payment.
I do sell mainly in CAD so the USD balance I have is a small amount that's suitable for buying in USD when I see something I want

If you set the way you pay your bill to Canadian currency via CC, will it go through that way even if you have $US in your account?

If by "bill" you meant eBay fees, you can link your CC to eBay as pre-authorized CC for paying fees instead of PP. Or you can link a pre-authorized chequeing account too if anyone prefers that... So the U.S. balance is irrelevant since I'm not paying eBay fees via PP.
Though what I meant by "bills" in previous post meant payments in general (phone bills, groceries, gas, textbooks etc), not just eBay and PayPal ones since rose-dee warned about CC interests.
If you meant to ask me can I pay my CAD purchases with CC via PP with a USD balance, yes. By default PP will prompt you to pay with US balance, so when you checkout and reach the PP payment screen you'd need to manually change it to pay with CC each time. You only get the option to use CC only if you have zero CAD balance.
Hope I answered your question correctly.

Yes, as long as you have chosen the automatic payment option via CC in your seller account preferences.
If you haven't already done this, go to your seller account, look below the current account summary for the account payment section, follow the prompts to set up automatic payments, choose "Credit Card" from the drop-down list and supply the relevant details.
Setting automatic CC payments of your eBay fees this way will not permit eBay to access your Paypal account. If there is ever insufficient credit available on your CC, you will be notified that your eBay bill is unpaid and overdue/outstanding.
Note, however, that this is not the case the other way around. Setting up your account for automatic payment of eBay bills from a Paypal balance does mean that if there is an insufficient balance in PP to cover the bill, the back-up CC linked to your PP account will be used for payment of the eBay account. This is because PP's system will access your linked CC whenever funds are short in your PP account itself.
