A buyer purchased 2 e-readers without chargers. I combined shipping and sent them out. She then contacts me stating she has found a compatible charger, but cannot get either to turn on or charge. I tell her to ship them back for a full refund and send a photo of her return shipping receipt so I can refund that too. She does not open a return on eBay or Paypal.
I receive the e-readers today. They turn on when I take them out of the box and work fine. Buyer has not sent a photo of her return shipping receipt, but the postage on the packaging states "USPS Xpresspost $15.50".
So now I want to refund her, but not sure how to do this properly since the return was not initiated through eBay.
Should I just refund through Paypal? Do I have to refund the full return shipping cost since she opted for the most expensive shipping option? She didn't even pay that for original shipping through Canada Post.

Refund through Resolution Center choosing "buyer request" as the reason. No defect, refund goes to buyer, instant FVF refund. Use "send Money" in Paypal to refund the postage cost.
Yeah, shipping from the US is that expensive for international.

So "cancel order" in Resolution Centre? Does it matter if I refund through eBay or Paypal?

Great. Thanks, I appreciate the advice 🙂

Sorry, I was out.
I have used Resolution centre, only, for quite a while. It is simple and easy. To my way of thinking, it is set-up to help sellers. There are no log-ins, no passwords, badda-bing, and yer done. Move on.
I find that moving on, I instantly forget, and I get an equal sale almost immediately.
