Buyer asking to refund item that works perfectly fine?

hello Ebay Canada community.

Just wanted to ask the Ebay experts for their opinion. I sell video games (among other things).  Last week a customer bought a game from me, I shipped it, it arrived, no problem. Today the customer (who I discovered under their ID is also a video game seller) asked for a refund.  He told me that he was reselling the game to a local customer but the customer wanted a different game. He wanted to return the item back to me for a refund?

Do I need to just suck it up and do it? I don't want any negative feedback.

Your listings state that you have a 14 day return policy and it doesn't give any exceptions so yes, you do have to accept the return even though the reason for it would irk me too. It would be a good idea to specify that the item must be sent back in the exact condition that it was sent out in.

Or, you might want to mention to the buyer that they are responsible for the cost of return shipping and that it might be less expensive for them to sell it on ebay rather than to send it back.

Definitely mention the return shipping. You might also mention that the customer might, for his own protection, want to return it with Delivery Confirmation.

"Thank you for your query. We accept 14 day returns on purchases. Item must be in the same condition as it was sent, in this case in the original sealed packaging. Most returns are sent Delivery Confirmed, for the sender's further protection. We refund the entire original payment on reciept."
