Canada Post delivery standards

Why is that eBay does not recognize that Canada post has suspended all delivery standards ???

Stop telling people when their item should arrive or at least advise them.

Canada Post has not suspended delivery standards.

They have however, suspended all on-time delivery guarantees.

Date posted: December 02, 2020

Yellow Alert: Customers may experience some delays as we process and deliver heavy holiday parcel volumes, while maintaining important safety measures.

We suspended on-time delivery guarantees on March 18, 2020 due to the unique circumstances we are operating in this year. The suspensions remain in effect.

Delivery standards have been adjusted to help manage delivery expectations.

If you are finding the time estimates too small, you can increase your handling time, and (if not using calculated shipping) use one of the generic shipping choices that have a longer delivery time range.

Oh man, I'm convinced the INRs are going to be pouring in soon for my lettermail from the past couple of weeks (which is about 30 items headed to ON & QC from BC). I haven't had time to change my delivery method from standard to economy, so at the 10 business day mark, I'm gonna get hit!

Our local postal boxes have been OVERFLOWING! I've had to lineup at the counter most times I've shipped, and there's BINS of o/s lettermail there, too!

I've been schooled by @pjcdn that increasing handling time doesn't actually help because once an item is Accepted the clock starts ticking.
Of course, that would only apply to tracked items.
Those of us who "go commando" on tracking have a different set of problems.

The generic shipping choices should work.
But then most Calculated Shipping is tracked and I think we end up back where we began.

At this point, 10 days from Christmas, anyone shopping for gifts online is afflicted with a terminal case of optimism.

When I went to the post office yesterday, the worker was hauling carts of parcels out for the 3pm pickup from about 2:20 when I arrived, and was filling what was certainly the second truck, possibly the third, when I left at ~2:55. In addition the post box was full to the point of being unable to close.

Canada Post delivery standards

Canada Post has revised their Xmas cutoff dates again this week due to much heavier than expected volumes.

For cross country delivery:

Priority has Friday, Dec 18 as the last day

XpressPost has Thursday, Dec 17

and Expedited Parcel and Flat Rate Box are now too late.

Regional deadlines are Wednesday 16 to Friday 18 depending on service choice.

Local last day is Friday, December 18 for all service choices.
