Duplicate Listings Created By eBay

Yesterday I relisted all my listings both fixed price & auction style from my store. Had a notice come up that there was a problem with the listing format, so try again. I waited & then tried again & had no more problems. Today I take a look at my listings & about 50 auction style have this message beside them.   (eBay note: This duplicate listing is not visible to buyers yet. It will automatically become visible if your identical active listing receives a bid).   I believe eBay somehow screwed up & made duplicates of some of my auctions by mistake. I did a test to see what would happen if I deleted one of my auctions that had the message, & sure enough it relisted the exact item that I had just removed. I am wondering if there is a way to get rid of the duplicates? Are they all being counted as seperate listings (I have 500 free auction listings for each month)? Should I call CS as I believe they screwed up somewhere?  Thanks

You get rid of the duplicates exactly as you did, by deleting them manually.
BTW, if you have any watchers, they will be notified of the closure and of the new listing. For whatever a watcher is worth.

Yes those duplicates will be counted towards your 500 "free" (really discounted) listings.

And yes, you should call Customer Service and ask that they correct your invoices.

I occasionally go through my listings after putting them in alphabetical order (just click Title on the Active Listings list) and check for duplicates, since my items are mostly one-offs.
It is normal to find one or two duplications in a thousand, every time I do this.

And it has been going on for years.

That’s why I like using TurboLister; it tells you when you try to list if you have already listed the item.

eBay did screwed up with my 50 listings and wouldn't credit me for another 50 free listings.  Shame on eBay for not accept their responsibilities!!

Turbo Lister never bothered to set up a Mac-compatible program.

I tried using Garage Sale, but it was harder than the Sell Your Item form even then (and has improved since).

Okay so this is the second time this has happened this year. eBay is randomly duplicating some of my auction listings. Just got off the phone with CS & they are checking into it. I got rid of almost 40 duplicate listings yesterday & today find that there are about 30 more.  Just a heads up to other sellers to check it hasn't happened to you too.

And conversely, I was listing some new titles that I have had in the past and when I put them on the stockshelf, I noticed that I might have a duplicated listing, since I already had one copy of one title.

Checked on my Active List-- the two titles by that author that were already on the stockshelf were no longer listed.  One was the title I had just added, the older copy was no longer live. And one was listed in January, but no longer live.

So this week I have to get off Facebook and review all the titles I thought were pootling along merrily to see if they really are listed.
