Ebay Canada's Biggest 4th Quarter Of All Time Started Comment On Ebay Advertising In Your Location

All online platforms are competing for 4th Q sales. Buyers are drawn with great marketting techniques. When Molson's Brewery was asked about them spending so much on Grey Cup advertising the CEO said "I'm not sure exactly how much product we will sell. The only thing I can be sure of is that if we didn't buy these ads our competitors would."

  As of October 1 here in British Columbia advertising so far has lit up with ;

*Facebook Marketplace advertising for buyers on 103.9 beach radio. Extensive campaign.

* Amazon Global News and Global network . Very extensive  campaign.

*Vinted (Never heard of . Must be new platform)  Extensive campaign on Global TV.

I'm not sure how many her in BC still have cable TV.  So far, in my market exposure, Ebay Canada hasn't made a sound.

Is Ebay Canada advertising for buisness in your community?

Vinted is a PoshMark clone, more down market, for selling your old clothes. I've seen a lot of their ads, which is odd cause I don't watch much TV and mostly streamed.

Amazon knows how to use publicity which is cheaper and more effective than advertising. For example, there was a  lot of media coverage of a new plant opening in Sydney, Vancouver Island.

Sydney has both a ferry terminal and an airport.

oops, clicked on  solution accidentally so there's a freebie 🙂 ! Re "Vinted" I kind of figured that but it's the first I've heard of it. I only get Global other than streeming. They are spending a ton on advertising. My radio stations are playing a lot of Facebook Marketplace ads. Still haven't heard anything from Ebay here in Kelowna.

Radio with ads? Not on Radio Two!!

The PoshMark ones seem to have dropped off, perhaps people who can afford the kind of high end designer stuff they seem to want are less likely to sell off their last season clothes?
Vinted is definitely looking at the girl who spends all her wages on fast fashion. And is dumb enough to think that selling the clothes on is "making money".  Remember when Carrie wanted to buy her apartment and Miranda pointed out she had spent the equivalent of a  down payment on Jimmy Choos and Louboutins?

I still think the best ad eBay ever did was the one in conjunction with Canada Post showing eBay sellers dropping parcels into postboxes in cities, seaports, reserves, arctic villages. Hit all the spots, nationalist warm fuzzies, buying from real people not giant multinationals, easy shipping, selling is simple... It's not even available on YouTube anymore.

Kelowna, eh? I have a nephew there. But I have a LOT of nephews. Most of them married and breeding more little nephews.

I hope my generation didn't start your over poplating nephews 🙂 I have/had 36 cousins but we are dwindling away. Yes  Facebook Marketplace is all over a newer radio station here. Vinted is advertising at prime times on Global. I haven't looked at the platform but they are saying there are zero fees.

Ebay Canada think they have no need.  So far I have seen nothing. Nudda. Zero. Ziltch. That says they do advertise the word "list more" to sellers a lot so thats something...(Kelowna irony is a lot like Kootenay irony except people don't ski naked here. {Steve Martin- Roxanne})

I have a seller account at Poshmark and they send me a lot of enticements. When old men's clothes with paint all over them come into fashion I'll list my stuff.

It's an interesting and beautiful little fishing village. Not sure now but it used to have the most book stores per capita in Canada. Great place to take the ferry as a foot passenger to hang out for a couple of days. Thank you amazon for ruining that hidden gem...

That was a good ad.

And off topic...

...

Not seen any advertising for ebay recently (but that also is the same for all the competition).

Occasionally in years past I've run across the odd eBay TV ad in Canada. Nothing so far this year. I looked up "Vinted" who has a very aggressive campaign on Global.  They advertise as having "no fees".  They are listed as having over 700 employees in Lithuania (started in 2012).  It would seem an attempt to compete in North America with Ebay, Etsy  and Poshmark.
