Don't you think eBay should insure our parcels as they are making a killing on this 10% rip off of a fee on shipping. Does anyone know a cheaper way too ship parcels in Canada or else where?

eBay is a venue where you advertise your products and pay a fee (commission) on the value of the transaction (including shipping) if the item sells. eBay is not in the insurance business nor do they want to be.
Many years ago, eBay would charge a higher rate on the selling price only and nothing on shipping. As expected, many sellers cheated.
To fight that problem and match what its main competitor (Amazon) was doing, eBay lowered the rate they charge for FVF on fixed price items and added the fee on the shipping charge. Many sellers experienced a saving while others - mostly those with relatively low value and high shipping charge - saw their fees go through the roof, forcing many Canadian sellers to give up on eBay.

"Ebay charges 10% on shipping"
I just realized that you have been selling on eBay for 15 years. As such you are well aware of the policy change from several years ago.

So you get 8% discount from canada post regular parcel, but then ebay charges 10% on the shipping? Is that how it works?

Actuall,y its worse than that. If you charge additional fees to compensate for ebay's entitlement on freight, your customers will attack your dsr's which in the long term will cost you even more in profit and sales! This is a really cool venue to do business!

Use Exoedited Parcel with PayPal shipping labels and save 18% instead.
