If I charge no tax, is ebay gonna screw me somehow or demand it from me?

Collection of sales tax for Buyers from some American states has been in place since the start of the year.
Been several threads about this.
eBay collects the tax from the Buyer and remits it to the state. The Seller is NOT involved.
If local pickup the Buyer should be be setting his purchase address as your location. I believe the sales tax is based on the Buyer's ship to location.

Hi @leaky-bucket-labs - if your buyer's checkout address was in one of the US states mentioned here we are required to collect and remit sales tax on their behalf. This is applicable to all buyers located within those states, regardless of where you, as the seller, are located - and regardless of the shipping method employed to get the item to them.
You shouldn't be able to alter the tax percentage in states where we are collecting it automatically. If you were able to adjust those amounts in the invoice would you let me know? Thanks!

Well he's already paid.
Ebay better not come after me for taxes or I'll quit selling.
Online flea market is getting more like a feeding ground for taxes and "fees".

Thanks for the update @leaky-bucket-labs - we wouldn't 'come after you' for taxes that the buyer owes.
Were you able to adjust the tax percentage on the invoice you sent the member?

It's not eBay.
It's your customer's state government which is now collecting state sales taxes on all your customer's online purchases.
All.
Including AZ, LL Bean, WalMart-- and from all around the world.
No matter which online venue you use.
(Perhaps not your own website.)
It has nothing to do with you.
If your customer complains, google his state's revenue office and tell him to complain there.

yes I was.
I changed it to 0.00 and then I came here to make sure I wouldn't be charged the tax if I did that but before I could send the invoice, the payment was made by the buyer.
thanks for your help
