I have some memorabilia such as postcards, vintage motorcycle sales brochures and some motorcycle magazines that I would like to ship using Canada Post Lettermail. These items are very light and will fit in a 9" x 12" envelope. Rates are tolerable if delivery is a bit slow and no tracking is available.

When I try to create my listing there does not seem to be a way to choose Canada Post Lettermail, just the parcel rates which are exorbitant for items this small and light. A postcard, for example, does not need a padded envelope, just a piece of cardboard to prevent bending.

Here is an example of what I would like to do: (item number) 372601737054

Use Flat Rate Shipping.

https://www.canadapost.ca/cpotools/apps/far/business/findARate?execution=e1s1

You need the "For a Letter or Document".

Letter rates vary from 90 cents (domestic under 30g) to $$21.80 (international to 500g). All shipments have to be less than 2 cm.

And do use metric.

Canada Post went metric in 1974 and every thing else will be guesswork.

BTW. You might also want to consider Free Shipping when you get comfortable.

DON'T PANIC!

Free Shipping just means putting the cost of shipping into your asking price instead of spelling it out.

Letter rates are not based on destination, unlike package rates, so this works well and customers like it.

Which costs more ? A $5 item with $2 shipping? Or a $7 item with Free Shipping?

Take your time.

Shipping is the hardest part of selling online.

If you are using the default Simplified Sell Your Item form, look over to the right of the form and switch to the Advanced form. It is no more difficult and MUCH more flexible.

Best wishes for your new endeavour.

By the way you can Register letters and get tracking domestically for $9.50 plus the usual postage.

But don't use Registration outside the country. EBay doesn't accept it as Proof of Delivery.

And I'm not sure it's cheaper than Regular Parcel which is accepted as having Proof of Delivery.

o.k., so a couple of things.. if you are going to mail without tracking and you are ok with that, then your shipping fee, should reflect that. when you say you can ship multiple items together, as soon as you go over 2 cm in width you can 't send letter mail, you have to send as a package. and the price goes way up.. and you need to remove the delivery estimates on your listing, that only fuels , people to open items not received, or your email be flooded with , where is my item questions..

ebay provides an estimate for delivery to each customer based on your shipping choices.. as you have chosen economy, i believe you get 15ish days for items to be delivered, other than that i would recommend you provide a few more photos, front and back,  and maybe photo any defects,

also disclaimer that there is a postal address sticker on the book.. alot of people buy from their phones, and have a small screen, and usually don't check photos closely.. so you need to disclaim any deficiencies in your product.. Good luck.

I am sure there will be more advise coming to you..

As femme mentioned, you need to use flat rate shipping, not calculated shipping. You would use one rate for within Canada, one to the US and one to all other countries that you are going to ship to.
