I've filed claims with shipsurance and they were reasonable to deal with. However, most insurance policies state that the insurance is negated if the item is returned to you. and so i f you do decide to go that route just giving you the head's up.
It sounds like you are filing an insureance claim with Shipsurance and also want the damaged item returned to you. Did I get that wrong?
So, if you were to get an insurance refund you would have your cake (the refund for the item), and you'd also be eating it too (have the damaged item back in your hands).
