How come my ebay is only getting 10-15 views an auction?

Am I doing something wrong? Here's my ebay to check out what I'm listing. On the occasional brand new or rare game I'll get 60+ but everything I'm selling either doesn't sell, or gets sold way cheaper than it's worth cause of it.

My ebay username is riseagainst123 here's a link, any help would be appreciated!

Re: How come my ebay is only getting 10-15 views an auction?

I looked at one of your listings.

I noticed :

"Just as a last disclaimer, I am NOT responsible for loss or damages done on the part of Canada Post, and It is your decision if you would like this game to be shipped via regular mail and we will not be held responsible for any damages to the game or if it gets lost in a mailing process."

I quickly made a decision - like many other potential buyers - NOT to view any of your other listings.

You may not realize it but, as a seller, you are most definitely responsible if the item gets lost or damaged in transit, regardless whether the buyer paid for tracking or not.  If a buyer does not get the item, he/she will simply make a claim with eBay/PayPal and the full amount of the original transaction (including shipping charge) will be refunded to the buyer and the amount deducted from your PayPal balance.

You may want to reconsider your shipping policies.

Good Luck

Ok, I will take that out of future listings. Do you think that's it though? Like am I not using the right keywords or something?

As a buyer I was also worried about how you were describing the items. It's as though you are saying if there is damage it's okay because you said there might be.

However, when I buy I only look at feedback and my heart sunk when I saw that one of your feedback was about the exact thing I was talking about above. They were upset about a damaged case and scratched game and your response was "Well, It's listed as acceptable for a reason". Right there you lost my purchase. In response I would have put "Sorry" or if it wasn't damaged and the buyer is lying "Game was not scratched. Sorry." It at least makes me feel that the buyer has the issue, not you (as you only have the one negative). Obviously if a seller has more than one negative I don't even bother but in this case I would like to give the seller the benefit of the doubt but your response had me going in the other direction.

If you want my advice (and it's not too late) contact the buyer, offer to refund and ask that he kindly change your negative feedback to positive (demonstrating that you made it right) because if you get one more negative feedback saying the same thing then I wouldn't buy from you. It's just how I protect myself.

If you are only talking about why you are not getting views I don't get many views either unless I list it for dirt cheap. I've decided to just be patient and if I sell, great. If not, then fine. I've lost so much money selling things dirt cheap. I'm not willing to do that anymore.

Re: How come my ebay is only getting 10-15 views an auction?

Another problem may be your "perceived" high shipping cost to the USA.  For some reason, you list "Standard International" (US$10.00) first followed by CP Light Packet USA (US$ 7.00).  I do not know what you mean by "Standard International".  The way eBay works, the first shipping information (US$10.00) will be shown in search result pages on eBay.com - making you look expensive compared to American sellers (offering mostly "free shipping" to US$4.00)

On the subject of the eBay/PayPal guarantee, disregarding any disclaimer you may have, when a potential buyer sees your listing on eBay.com (where the vast majority of buyers shop), the following is offered by eBay:

Returns:
Seller does not offer returns. You are covered by the eBay Money Back Guarantee if you received an item that is not as described in the listing.
Guarantee:
 | See details
Get the item you ordered or get your money back.
Covers your purchase price and original shipping.

Re: How come my ebay is only getting 10-15 views an auction?

That's a tough category as there is so much competition.

The one thing that caught my eye is that on the search view it shows the U.S. shipping price as being $10 which would seem high to U.S. buyers. When I click on the shipping tab it gives me the option of $7 or $10 but many buyers may not bother to go into the listing to see that.

When you set up your international shipping prices, set up the cheapest U.S. price first so that it shows on the search view. Then set up another U.S. price if you have one or then set up your price for the rest of the world. If you set up your worldwide price first U.S. buyers will see that price in search as the U.S. is also part of 'worldwide'

Do the games and packaging weigh more than 150 grams?

Also, many buyers look at feedback...especially negative and neutrals and your replies to those may turn off some buyers. If you must reply to a feedback it is always best to answer politely and professionally. If you are having a problem with buyers not waiting long enough for an item, when you ship the item you might want to send them a short message letting them know it has been shipped and giving them an estimated arrival time.

Get rid of everything after "please note". Get rid of the "please read" directive. Sounds like you are talking to a child.

You have not been at this, pardon the pun, game very long. eBay can be very cyclical. I have had twelve years of this and I cannot make sense of eBay.

sigh

This is where I get flamed.

Your listings have a "garage sale" look to them. New is new, that is a separate game. Used, well, you need to hook the searcher. I am not getting a sense of a "hook" that makes me want to buy.

Better pictures? We all advocate that. Get rid of the busy background. Fingers in the pictures? Really? Get some cardboard and a solid colour background. A photo-booth as it were.

Take a look at what the competition is doing and take (copy) that and use it.

Re: How come my ebay is only getting 10-15 views an auction?

Well, the $10 shipping is to places not in North America, and the us is $7. I can make it cheaper but it'd be cutting it close which is why I have it like that. So if I put the $7 first then the $10, the $7 would show first?

As for the neutral I got, that person was really rude and uncooperative (I even offered a full refund) and she was absolutely rude in her response, so I know I made myself look bad, but I was a little aggravated by her. So for te future, in terms of conditions what would you suggest I do? I list it saying they may have damages, but if they're bad like water damage, I do still mention it. I appreciate the feedback everyone!

As far as keywords go, there is only so much you can say about a game. Have a look at similar listings and see if they use keywords that you think someone might use to search.

Mr. Elwood: get rid of everything after it? Like even the part mentioning shipping and stuff? So just post a picture (on a solid background) and just put the item condition in the description and that's it?

What if I had shipping prices change to
Canada $4
Us $5
International $8

That's little the cheapest I'd feel comfortable going

Re: How come my ebay is only getting 10-15 views an auction?

Pjcdn2005: thank you for all the feedback, I know I've reacted negatively to people on ebay but I just get really aggravated seeing them leave feedback without contacting me first, then when I try to work with them they don't respond. It just makes me feel they're just being nasty to me.

I will have to remember from now on to make sure I put us price first.

If I put us' price and then put worldwide including the us, would it make us appear as 10 still? Versus unchecking it everytime?

Yes, the $7 would show first and yes $4, $5 and $8 sound better. If that doesn't cover your cost you could start your listings at a slightly higher price.

All 3 of your replies sound confrontational. I realize it is frustrating when stuff like that happens but a calm factual response would be better...

Item mailed 8 days ago, U.S. to Canada shipping time approx 8-16 days

It doesn't have to be that but something that tells the story without sounding angry

"So if I put the $7 first then the $10, the $7 would show first?"

If you feel you should charge as much as US$7.00 (Cdn$ 7.70) for the USA, you should select that service and charge for the USA.  My understanding from Canada Post is that it only costs you Cdn$ 3.79 for Light Packet up to 150g (a typical DVD weights about 65g).  Considering most of your competitors charge $4 or less, I suggest you drop the shipping charge to US$4 instead of US$7.

Then, for the "international" countries (if you insist in shipping these products overseas), deselect USA on the US$10 shipping charge' otherwise, US$10.00 will show for the USA.

I'm not sure what you mean but if you put your first international option to the United States at $7 and second option to Worldwide for $10...U.S. buyers will see $7 in search view and overseas buyers will see $10

You should change that on your current listings. You can use the bulk edit function to do that.

Ok. I will age to remember these tips from now on, I should've responded to the neutral as you said pjcdn2005, especially cause I'm a really nice guy and not confrontational at all. There's no Turing back now though, so nowhere to go but up!

If you are giving the shipping price to the USA at $7, do NOT include either the USA or N&S America in the next set of Custom Destinations for the rest of the world.

These prices will override your USA price.

No-one will read any of what you put in, so, why bother? Buyers do not read. eBay says this.

As per eBay best practices as told to me by a senior marketing strategist:

  • - What it is
  • - Condition
  • - What it is for
  • - Refund
  • - Shipping

Bullet points, just like that. Shipping cost is under the shipping tab, why repeat something no-one will read?

Where is Femme when ya need her? Femme has an excellent little tutorial on cost plus shipping, free shipping, etc.

I set my prices at what widgets generally go for. I use a blend of cost plus shipping, but, still end up at the price point. You pay FVF on the total cost anyway.

Where do you need to be, total price, to make it worth your while?
