I think it was dutchman who asked the same question this week.
I've not seen that. I cannot comment as to whether the danger is clear and present.

This is what the page states.

I did some more digging and apparently ebay site is not secure, that is why it shows that.

His question was the week before.

Why is the Ebay site showing up as not secure?
The reply was: Can you tell me more? The eBay site shows as secure like normal on all my browsers.

Hi MJ, I think that this is something to bring up on Wed to Raphael.
So what I have learned, is that if the website is not secure, as of Sept 9, it will show the i with a circle around it until Jan 2017 and then it will show as unsecure to everyone. That will kill ebay sales, as soon as buyers log on and it shows as unsecure, they won't proceed.
So I guess ebay has a lot of work to do prior to that.

It's specific to Google Chrome, right?

Yes, but it means that the ebay website is unsecure. When I go to facebook, paypal, amazon or outlook mail, it is all secure, just not ebay.

I doubt it's new.
More importantly the only pages that need to use SSL are sign-in pages and THEY do.

This just happened as of Sept 8. But in January it will show as unsecure. Now that to me as a buyer would scare me off?

What percentage of people use Chrome?
About half worldwide according to

Of course the number that really matters is how many are eBay buyers.

Hi MJ, according to wikipedia:

No kidding. I've never even considered using Google Chrome. Interesting, thanks.

I switched. I was using IE but so many people raved about GC I got curious and it downloaded free and easy. I found it was much smoother and cleaner to use. IE takes longer but that is just my experience. Someone else may have the opposite.
