This is really the limit.
In my listing description I described a plastic radios colour as "ivory" and eBay would not accept the listing when I tried to post it.
They sent me a message that they did not sell products made from ivory on eBay.
This has happened twice - crazy or what.
I guess they must think I am selling an elephant tusk radio.
Go figure.

eBay has become paranoid about the word ivory. You can't use it to describe even a color. I have been selling faux ivory bone jewelry products for many years. And there are hundreds of other people using this expression. But every once in a while eBay jumps in & says you can't use the word ivory. Obviously they are not looking at the context of listings, only the word ivory. I had some of my listings removed & they even put a hold on my selling for a week. I phoned customer service (which was a joke) & explained that I am not selling real ivory. That is why it is listed as faux ivory bone. What makes me mad is that the rule should apply to everyone not just a few. They should remove all listings with that word & not just pick & choose at random certain people. If you put in the words ivory color or faux ivory jewelry in the search engine you will see hundreds of listings that are allowed & not removed.

Try light beige or off-white?

I know that's not your point but, practically speaking, it might be a workaround.

It goes further than the word "ivory" --- I ran into that when I tried to use "elephant tusks" in a description of a metal coin -- and was also told selling ivory was not permitted. Ended up using: "image of four crossed E. tusks"
Anyone here selling Ivory soap?

Ivory soap. Now that is an interesting question. I wonder if the UPC and placement in the Product Catalogue would save a seller from the warning? I've some around here. Let me see.

Okay, please don't actually buy this. I'll have to drop-ship it from another e-tailer if you do.
I wasted a store subscription allotment listing on it and everything: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/-/232203175365?
Get your elephant-tusk-brand soap here for the low low cost of $100 CAD with free shipping. (Please don't actually buy it. The listing will self-destruct in three days.)

I got the warning when I added the sarcastic bit about an elephant tusk but it let it stand.

Very funny listing. 🙂 But at least now you know. We're having trouble with how to sell a set of old bagpipes where the projecting mounts are ivory. They're Hendersons from the 20s, and its use was common then.

It's just a warning so I don't see what the big deal is.
Speaking of ivory and radios......if you ever run into one of these (Vintage 1950's Zenith Bakelite Z725 (possibly 835) Radio) let me know......
There is one on Etsy at the moment but it's in "rough" condition and it's brown.....I only want one if it's working AND COMES IN IVORY!!!!!!

Is this the one.

SNAD.....it's not Ivory!!!!!
Yeah that's the one, it was the "family radio" (permanently tuned to CBC) when I was a Kid, at some point in the early 60's (after we switched to each person gets their own transistor radio) I decided to become an electronic technician and figure out "what makes a radio work".
I found out one thing, in the hands of a 10 year old taking the thing apart and then trying to put it back together only taught me how it DIDN'T work (anymore).
Pretty sure the pile of parts got thrown out sometime in the 70's.

Everyone here knows how much I love Product Reviews.
I wrote one for the Ivory bar soap I had listed that has now, sadly, ended.
Enjoy.
