Item stuck at NYC Airport since 31 DEC

I have several items stuck at the NYC Airport. I have a customer asking for a replacement. I am not sure what to do. Called CS and they told me the buyer will be not able to leave a negative feedback or chargeback the payment. What do you think?

The buyer can absolutely leave negative feedback or chargeback the payment. They might not be able to do an Item Not Received claim on eBay (if the last date of delivery hasn't passed). Chargebacks can happen any time up to the maximum allowed by the service provider.

Usually I am very cooperative, but this time enough is enough. The buyer made the purchase Dec 25 (!!) and then asked "where is my item" just 5 days later. Today is 10th working day. I will then risk the negative or a chargeback, but I refuse to send a replacement.  I politely explained the item was purchased during Xmas / New Year / CP strike time and I got a response "USPS delay has nothing to do with CP strike" Really? I reported an extortion to Ebay.

What is the last estimated date for delivery?

The buyer cannot open an Item Not Received- INR  (or Not As Described -NAD) claim until that date passes.

Since you shipped on Dec 25, the clock should not start counting until the first business day, Dec 27.

Fingers crossed.

And it has arrived in the USA.

NYC is the last place it was recorded NOT where it is now.

The buyer can leave feedback at any moment after paying.

And you can leave a Response to any FB.

For example - they leave "Did not recieve."

Your response "Paid Dec 25. Shipped Dec 27 by Canada Post Tracked Packet Estimated delivery date January 21. FB left on Jan 11."

Same with a chargeback. EBay will run interference, but you MUST give the tracking number in any claim, eBay or chargeback. Do NOT trust eBay to do this.

CS just wanted to get you off the phone for thier smoke break. They have an hourly quota to fulfill. They will say anything to get you off the phone.

No replacement.

EBay has a Money Back Guarantee. Not a Replacement guarantee.

Replacement costs you two items, plus two shipping charges, and does not guarantee that the FB would be removed.

Tell the entitled nitwit to open a Claim with eBay.

They can't until that delivery date has passed.

And when you put the tracking number into the Claim, eBay usually allows a little leeway when the bots see that the parcel has been shipped and is moving.

What I really didn't like, the buyer was very aggressive, even if that was 100% clear, I am not responsible for the delay in any way. Otherwise, I would send the replacement. I already did in the past a few times.

I have many more items stuck in the same place - I reported it to Canada Post and they did open an investigation. All shipped on Dec 27.

Concerning the CS behaviour, I hope you are not right. We were promised all negative comments caused by the CP strike will be removed. Will see... 🙄

A (strange) update! I opened a ticket with Canada Post. 1 hour later all my lost items were found! All tracking were updated! Is it possible they called the NYC hub? Or is it a coincidence? No idea ... but I am more than happy! 😀

Open a report using that form (the website is slow).

This is assuming it was sent with Canada Post (which gets handed off to USPS).

In my experience, if an item is stuck, or is bouncing around between the sorting facilities and never going where it is supposed to, opening a missing mail report seems to resolve the issue.

This always works for me with USPS mail stuck at sorting facilities.

I guess I should read the replies before responding to the OP.

Your ticket probably worked. I don't know the mechanisms behind how or why stuff gets stuck, but when something is stuck with USPS you need to contact them. I usually use the missing mail report form, but I guess your Canada Post ticket worked just as well.

Sure, but I am not talking here of a technical possibility. I had unfair feedbacks removed, and chargeback disputes won a few times. Usually, I am very cooperative, I send replacements, refund payments without asking to send the item back, but this time I said no - because asking for a replacement while the item is in transit - even late - is a pure robbery.
