Just canceled a sale due to eBay/PayPal "pending" hold issue

I've been a good eBay member for as long as it existed to be honest.  Zero bad feedback.  Have bought and sold a lot, but not much selling in several years.  Just listed an item and sold it - only to find that eBay/PayPal would "hold" the payment for "up to 21 days" - apparently because I'm what they consider a "casual seller" at this point.  Zero notification up front, no warning, and frankly no cause for this action.  Don't know how other people feel but there are too many other options.  I canceled the sale - which immediately returned the funds (that I never got) to the buyer, and canceled the item.  I'll never again consider selling a single solitary thing on eBay.  The idea that without notice or cause they could take a percentage of the sale price, and still hold funds for "up to 21 days" is both unethical and unacceptable.  It's too bad seeing what eBay has apparently become.  Just wondering if others have felt the same way.

It's nothing personal, they go by your selling history and if you have no recent history, they hold your money..usually until online tracking shows that the package has been delivered. Personally I don't think that it is unreasonable of them to hold the money for a $500ish sale from someone who hasn't sold on the site for a while.  They have no way of knowing if you are the actual account holder or if your account has been hacked or if the item you are selling is real.
