So the time has come where I am forced into managed payment.
I received the invite April 6. In the fine print bellow appeared this:
"""If you wish to receive your payouts in US dollars, register here to avoid account restrictions. Please disregard this email if you have already completed your registration."""
When I click on "here" it asks for my username, and the currency of my choice (USD, because I want to paid in USD from listing on ebay.com and use my funds in USD to purchase on ebay.com). It is now April 12 and I haven't heard anything back.
So eBay, what's next? Or, is this the end for the guy that sells in USD on ebay.com and also buys in USD on ebay.com. As a note, I never signed up for ebay.ca, ever. I was forced years ago when you set up ebay.ca, It is all but useless for my purposes.

Under community news there is a discussion board called weekly chat and this week there will be someone to answer MP question so you might want to post there. The board usually opens Tuesday afternoon and closes on Wednesday,

You might not hear anything for a few weeks, When I was "invited" to register last Summer it was 3 months before I was activated for MP. The wait times have gone down and continue to go down but it's still usually several weeks before the transition actually happens.
With this new USD to A USD bank account plan they may be moving a bit slower than they have for recent sign ups for the regular CAD system.

I hope to join the chat but if I miss it, if anyone is attending it would be appreciated if they can get clarification if funds will flow to either a US dollar account or a Canadian account according to the currency of the sale- i.e. 2 accounts are registered - 1 CDN$ and 1 US$.
I am concerned that sellers will have to choose 1 currency or the other.

What USD to USD bank account plan?
I mistakenly started the process, clicked the link for payout in USD and I am now trapped in the Managed Payment system and must provide a Canadian Bank account for all sales going forward. Ebay's reply to my concerns about the currency exchange hit both ways, as a result of this, "pound salt". It is what it is.
End of the road for me with ebay. I can't make it work with another 6% cost in exchanging money.

It would be 3% not 6% but we should be able to deposit US$ into a Canadian $US bank account. Hopefully there will be more information about that on Wednesday.

... and then it's another 3% to convert it back to USD. This is the part that ebay doesn't seem to be sensitive to. Canadian dollars are good for buying dirt, trees and propaganda - none of which is easily sold on ebay.

If you are listing on .com and get your funds deposited into a $US bank account you may be able to get a debit or credit card through that account and pay for your purchases that way.

That's how I was set up. Easy peazy - until I got the email regarding "managed payments". Now I can sell in USD, but I have to let ebay convert to CAD and deposit to my Canadian Bank account. Whereas before the money went straight to my US account and I could make purchases with my US Visa, or US debit card.
Thus, another 6% hit in currency exchanges I don't need and can't absorb.

We have already been told that MP sellers will be able to have their $US deposted into a Canadian bank $US account, I just don't know the details yet. You can ask about it on the weekly chat board. It is open now and will close sometime tomorrow.
