New seller but....

Sold several items, shipped them,  on two have already received positive feed back yet the powers that be are still holding my money in one case for at least another 6 days.

What the heck I sold, the buyer got their goods, said thanks good transaction but some logirythym in some computer still says no no not yet not yet!  Can't see any way that is right or legal!

We are not talking large amounts here, they have more financial info on me than the local credit bureau, but funds not yet available is still the mantra of the day.

Find this all very frustrating as a new (returning) seller.  Has taken what should be an enjoyable parting out of a model train collection and made it into something that is not fun at all.

I'm not here to make money in fact on most of the items I am selling I loose money. I am trying to get rid of some stuff,

It looks like my non-business approach and that of the Great White Bay may not be compatible.

New seller but....

I guess but my goodness the buyers have had their stuff for days and it is going to take another eight or more for me to get my money.  When I buy, the seller has money in hand before they ship but I'm required to operate on blind faith that at some point my goods will be paid for.  Seems that the honest ones are paying mightily for the sins of a small minority.

We all go through it.  Unfortunately it is a necessary evil brought about by a minority of crooks who would sell on Ebay, ship garbage or not ship at all then abandon the ID.  I sold my first item on Ebay UK recently and those funds are being held while I "build my reputation", as if my activity on .ca and .com never existed.  Ebay is very big and it is pretty broad automated policy, but your funds are safe.

Think of it as cheap insurance and try to not let it get to you!  You have fun and quality stuff to sell.   I had a couple of Rivarossi  engines and a number of cars that did very well a few years back.   They were beautiful engines

Your buyers have paid. But the mediator between your customer and you is holding the payment because -- well, basically because a lot of scammers were taking their payments and never sending anything.

It's no consolation, but US sellers who are also subject to the Hold get their money once the buyer leaves positive feedback. Of course, there are still some scammers who try to persuade customers to leave feedback before they receive the product. And then-- take the money and run.

Most buyers are smarter than that.

The money is being held in escrow. If you read the Buyer Board, you will see many sad tales of naive buyers being cheated of their money by scamming sellers who send nothing. This policy is meant to help with that.

BTW, again not something sellers new to business like to hear, but new merchant account holders also have their payments held from 15 to 30 days. American Express was particularly notorious for this, which is why AmEx is not taken by many businesses.
