The shipping cost is the same for this item, so which is the better service?

Expedited Parcel USA is a proven reliable service with good delivery times from what I have read in these forums. Delivery confirmation works and most likely you will get the DC.

Tracked Packet is new and was having issues with the DC being shown. I do not know the status of Tracked Packet now. With all of the Tracked packet issues with PayPal, there were few posts about how well the service was working.

Delivery times are longer with Tracked Packet compared to Expedited Parcel based on the Canada Post estimated delivery times. Another thing to consider is that Tracked Packet shows the postage amount on the PayPal label. Do you care about this?

So having a choice of services with the shipping costs the same I would go with Expedited Parcel. without any hesitation.

Some considerations

Tracked Packet is the same cost for all states in the US

Expedited Parcel varies among seven zones in the US...

Both have tracking.... and tracking is visible on the Canada Post website for both shipping options

Tracket Packet has insurance up to $100, and no extra insurance, above $100

Expedited Parcel can be insured for extra cost above $100

Have experienced no problem with Tracked Packet or with Expedited US.

But....... I send something to the UK on May 22nd via Tracked packet and received an email yesterday that it had arrived.

That took 2-3 days to the UK.........

Tracked Packet is a JOKE!! It is the first time I used the Tracked Packet mail service and I still cannot see where it is being "tracked" which I shipped on May 24 and it is June 3, still nothing expect when it was accepted in my local post office and nothing since then.

What a joke!!

Honey, yer complaint is with the USPS, not here. They are the ones not scanning. Why are you bothering to check the status of a package? I have NEVER done that in a decade.

Any problems with tracking Tracked Packet USA have been resolved....

I use it regularly and the tracking is always available on Canada Post's website... with tracking available right to the point of delivery....

I used Expedited to ship a heavy book to USA 2 weeks ago and according to the tracking status it was being scanned at my local post office on the 24th, scanned in the main office in the city on the 24th, scanned in Mississuaga on the 27, then scanned in the city (back to the city where it was scanned on the 25th!), scanned again in the same city on the 26th, scanned again in the same city on the 27th, scanned again in the same city on the 28th and scanned again in the same city on the 29th, again on 30th, again on 31st. Apparently it was sitting in the same city for nearly a week! Finally it scanned in Mississuaga on June 3 and finally it said it left Canada on June 7! I wonder what the heck is going on with those things like that, never seen like it before.

Too bad I didn't use XpressPost, or I would be getting a full refund for the late delivery!!

I didn't use Tracked Packet because it was not available that time, problems with PayPal, had to use Expedited.

I have found that size and weight makes an impact into delivery times. A bubble mailer seems to move faster than a box. A bubble mailer will go in a postie's bag and fits in a mailbox. A box will go in a truck and a pickup notice will be left.

My buyers do not ask where their parcel is.

Even though Expedited Parcel-USA is not a guaranteed service, you would be fully justified in requesting a refund of the postage from Canada Post in compensation for that parcel being bounced around in Canada for nearly 2 weeks before being dispatched across the border.

It's always good to hold CP's feet to the fire when they don't provide the service we pay (through the nose) for.

I believe Tracked Packet is approx 6 days and Expedited 4 days. The sooner the better IMO

Tracked Packet is regarded as an oversize US letter service (despite the fact that Canada Post markets it as a parcel service), which is why it has a size limit of one kilo.

Expedited Parcel is regarded as a parcel service, which is why you can send much larger items that way.

As far as I know, the two travel in different mailstreams.

The couple of times that I've used it, Tracked Packet has been fairly quick.

Alberta - California 4 days

Alberta to New York 7 days

Not so. A few years ago, a correctly addressed Expedited Parcel I sent from Ottawa to Washington State took 30 days to be delivered, probably because it was misdirected within the US. Promptly after requesting it, I was given a refund of the postage by Canada Post.

Honeybed's parcel was clearly mishandled by Canada Post. I have no doubt Canada Post will refund Honeybed the postage but he/she will have to ask for it.

You're probably aware of my opinion of Canada Post. However, I will say this: in my experience, if CP screw up significantly (as they clearly did in Honeybed's case), they will compensate you.

Been years since I contacted them but received refunds or free stamps or express envelopes a number of times for complaints where policy didn't offer one and in one case "insurance" for the item value for uninsured item

According to Canada Post, TP takes 4-7 days..I assume they mean business days. PB must have goofed when they filled out the shipping time information for TP. Hard to believe. :^O
