Very Weird eBay Glitches / Good Till Sells / 30 day Listings

Hey Everybody,

Just want to give a heads-up on some strange things that have happened to me lately;

1) MC099 Listing violation took down all my listings saying I went over my listing limit for the month
(can't find monthly limits table anywhere)

2) Phoned eBay, automatic answering saying they are experiencing technical difficulties regarding the exact same monthly limits violation

3) I can now list again, ate up all my free listings from the promotion.

4) EXTREMELY WEIRD ---->  Listed 3 items BY ITESELF and charged me the listing fees TODAY

Just really weird stuff, i've never seen happen before.

Anyways, I don't have anything listed anymore because i expended all my energy into that when the listing promo was on, just to have them all removed, and i'm now all out of free listings.

I'm really tired of having to go through and re-list stuff if it doesn't sell that week.  I lose templates and listings and it just creates mess.

What is the best way for me to list and item and forget about it (good till it sells) or 30 day listings?  Is this what a store typically accomplishes? I really want to spend less time re-listing items.

Thanks for your help!

I guess ebay does not know that Canada was impacted also.

Which Site were your items listed on? (dot)ca or (dot)com?

Items were listed on both sites.  They all went down except for one.

Might want to give ebay a call and see what they can do to make this right for you. You should not have to pay now for what was free when initially listed.

Did you read the links? There might be something in them that could help you when you get a hold of someone at ebay.

Got an update. No listings have been fixed yet though.

We're writing to let you know that as a result of a software issue on Wednesday, March 20, you may have mistakenly received a notice from eBay that you had exceeded a maximum number of allowed listings. As a result of this issue, some of your listings were ended and some may have been temporarily hidden from search results.

The software issue was fixed within a few hours. Hidden listings are now restored to view and we are in the process of relisting ended listings. This will not have any adverse impact on your standing in Best Match search, your seller feedback, or standards.

Please note that if you prefer to relist any of these items on your own—and you are free to do so—be sure to use the relist functionality rather than creating a new listing to avoid having a duplicate listing.

Our teams have been hard at work around the clock to rectify this quickly, prevent any reoccurrence, and ensure your uninterrupted selling. We appreciate your patience and apologize for any confusion or inconvenience this may have caused.

We also apologize if you experienced any delay in reaching our customer support. We will get back to you shortly with an update on the actions we're taking.

As always, thank you for selling on eBay.

Sincerely,

eBay Selling Team

well i lost 97 items. they are all sitting in the UNSOLD section. i dont want to re-list them i dont care about the $.20 to list the item. ive been down for two days now and their mistake is costing me 150-300$$ a day. in being down. most of my sales are driven off of refferals from forums. if i re-list then my links will change. not links that i put up but ones that i cant access that other users put up.. I dont know who they are. just nice ppl that ive helped.

I called up ebay. their answer. I kid you not. "Sir. this is the internet and we are working with machines"

Your joking? what is this the matrix?

So i said,. ive been buying and selling on ebay since 2003. If the postal system looses my package. i have to serve my customer. so i ship another item at my expense. did the customer lie? probably. but i do it anyway.

Ebay grosses 10.2BILLION dollers and cant fix this issue? something's wrong here. they just dont care.

So I've just discovered that all the listings in my unsold section are not available and I cannot relist them through eBay. I have to use the listing service I created the ad's with, GarageSale.

Also, no more free outdoor sports listings? WAHHH!

My problem is the "50 free listings feature" has stopped working. I called last week and spoke to some IT "supervisor" Glenda who tried to relist something for me herself (she didn't believe me at first) she and had the same issue. She assured me I was right and that something was wrong and that she would call me back within two hours with some answer for me.That was a few days ago now. Haven't heard from Glenda or anyone else and the problem is still there. I do not want to pay listing fees so now I only have about 10 things active since almost all my auctions ended today. Very frustrating.

Has this happened to anyone else? Should I try calling again? Will it remedy itself?

You have almost 100 completed listings in March so you have probably used up your free listings for this month. You are allowed to have 50 free on .ca and 50 on .com so if you haven't been listing on .com you would still have 50 free on there

But I have only sold 12 items in March. In the past, unsold items could be relisted for free, i.e., if I sold 12 items, I could still have any other 38 active listings for free. That has been the case in every previous month.

" In the past, unsold items could be relisted for free,"

???

It does not work that way, never did.

Unsold items can be relisted and the listing fee (*) refunded if the item sells on the relist.

(*) Only the lowest listing fee would be refunded.

For example, if the original listing is free and the relist cost $0.25, nothing will be refunded.

I suggest you spend a few minutes and review your previous monthly invoices from eBay, line by line, and match them against the 50 free listing you get every month and any other eBay "free listing" promotions that may have been in effect at that time.

Since eBay has offered many free listing promotions in the last nine months, it is easy to confuse the billing issue.

Thanks for your explanation! That must be what has happened in the past. I only started selling in November 2012 and I am very careful not to proceed with listing unless it says it's free. But I must have benefited from their promotions and not realized it. Too bad their technical support supervisor Glenda doesn't know that since I spent over an hour on the phone with her last Wednesday as she tried to fix my problem....lol! At least you've saved me another phone call - and it's only a week until April. 🙂

with all due respect thats utter BULL! they have not resolved the issue. and they will not re-list my items with variations. all my ads that are popular have variations.,

i sugested that i make another user and list them with that user till the problem is fixed, they granted me 1000 items worth $20000.

Each ad has 15-18 colours and three variations. x 10-15pc each LETS say., i maxed the account with three ads.

Customer service was not at all accommodating with the fact that everyday they told me to call one day later. everyday im losing money not giving me any solutions.

Finally i said screw it and re-listed everything, in one day i made more then the entire week of being down. due to their error.,

"we are reaching out to eBay sellers most impacted"

BULL! i had 100 ad's taken down. all of them! with no help at all. all customer service wanted to do is hang up on me. as fast as possable. and i was as nice as can be. untill the 163h mark where i lost it on them. after loosing about 800-1300$

"We will keep our sellers apprised of our progress"

BULL! i was told by three ppl i was going to get a email.

I was offered less then 10% of my money lost in FV fees returned., they said that they where going to refund all feed associated with re-listing the ads. that didnt happen. but we'll see on the next invoice.

Zero attempt was made or offered to make it right., only when i demanded my last months invoice of ~$300 as a partial compensation be refunded did they insuly me with $100 refund.

Ebay needs to try a little harder to help users affected by their "Glitches" some people rely on ebay and chose this method of selling for reliability...

Now, pierrelebel. i know your going to slamm me on something because you always take the side of ebay. but in this case they dropped the ball and are un-willing at all to help.

Hi - I don't think anyone has yet addressed your question.  From my perspective, using a store, I love the Good 'Til Cancelled listings for many types of items.  The listings just turn over automatically every 30 days, the price is good ($0.20 for my Basic store level), and I never have to bother with manually relisting.

I do use some time-limited fixed price listings if I think I might want to completely alter a listing through my Auctiva service (e.g. adding/deleting pictures) or relist later in another format.  However, even with GTC listings, you can revise, and you can send them to online auction if you wish at some point.

I don't know whether GTC is available without a store - probably not.  You have to determine how much your time is worth to you and whether a store is the right choice.  If you don't want to pay for a store, I believe you can set up your selling preferences to automatically relist items.  I've come across this option by accident, but as I haven't done this myself I can't recall specifically where to find it.  Maybe another seller can help there.

Yes, sellers can offer fixed price listings for durations of three, five, seven, ten or thirty days or GTC (renewed automatically every 30 days).

im sorry i generalized., but outside looking in, thats how it seems. till now i felt no need to post I just read. and i respect your opinion.

I just seems on some topics that I've noticed you fail to see the users point...

However i did follow the advice that you left someone else and marked down all my items 10%, to start. to kelp Drum up some business again. after getting beat with the wooden MC099 stick of ebay... plus i added a additional 10% if they help market for me.

As for how to list the items. Good till canceled is GOLDEN! i love this option. takes all the worry out of it. before i would loose stock on a item without knowing and the ad would be lost. then a user would ask me if i still make it? haha. Yea i do.
