Help! lol Hi All,
I had an item that I listed that was comprised of clearly marked sterling and gold jewelry bits and pieces and listed it as such. It was not really a "scrap" lot as most pieces could be worn or used. I listed it not for content as stamped, but for the lot of wearable jewelry itself and noted clearly in the description, what was on the tags and jewelry that were clearly shown. We also have pics of the pieces and their stamps/tags.
There were a few who bid and one person won, paid and we shipped.
I came in today and found an email from the winner firmly stating that the pieces were not what I had listed (which is not true as we have pics of the stamps) We also put in our description that we are listing these items as "untested" and that it was the buyer's responsibility to "test" the items to determine content. We were merely selling items as marked for their weight. Since they were bits and pieces and because testing does include cutting and acid testing, the jewelry once the testing (I am taking for granted that she did test since she claims they were not as stamped) was completed would not be something that could be resold. Our return policies clearly state that the items must be undamaged when they are returned in order to get a full refund.
She wants all her money, original shipping and shipping to return the items refunded by me. As the pieces are stamped, I doubt I'll get the "original" items back.
I have messaged her copying my description and explaining the refund policy. The worse thing, she has purchased other items from us and now I'm nervous about those transactions too. She could hit us three times with neg feedback, but she is clearly not following eBay's policies.
She's new to eBay too, I think. Should I block her and refund her the other transactions?
So here is a good example of a detailed description that still didn't keep the scammers at bay. (Pierre lol)

The material is cotton and very clean. In total this lot weighs 4lbs, 3oz."

"She wants all her money, original shipping and shipping to return the items refunded by me."
There are many ways to handle this situation. However, it is evident that what I would do does not necessarily reflect your sales philosophy.
I would send an email to my buyer and request that the complete lot be returned as soon as possible for a full refund to be provided immediately upon receipt. I would express that I am sorry the lot did not meet with her expectations and provide her with full satisfaction.
Period. I never argue with a customer. I never imply that are trying to scam me, ever. There is nothing to gain by suggesting I (seller) am right and the buyer is wrong or did not read the description or... whatever...
But that's me. What do I know?

That listing is very confusing.
There are 10 items and you've stated that 5 are stamped gold or sterling ........"9.25"/ "STER"/"10k"/"18K"/"13k"/"14k".
The other five, then, must be the untested pieces and as such are worthless pieces of metal.
IF four of those items are stamped 10 to 18 K gold then the value is much higher than $65 (Item cost plus shipping.............. ($20 for shipping is a lot but that's not your question.)).
There has to be room for a stamp so they can't be that small.
Either the buyer failed to locate the stamps or doesn't realize that gold is worth more than the $65 paid, or there is something wrong with the listing.
I'd try to figure that out and help the buyer find the stamps. These can be very tricky to locate and I'm wondering if that isn't the problem.
You have pictures of them so start there.
.................. failing that:
I'd take the return with a smile and re-list at a much higher price showing stamps etc.

Interesting advice thank you. I'm very much so considering this. Would be interesting to hear what the opposite take on refunding would be... Anyone?
She's bought more items, so this is a very delicate situation and I'll probably go with the refund option... although how much clearer can a listing be?
