Why does eBay.ca think this is a replica of a coin?

I got the red banner that it looks as though I'm trying to list a replica of a Canadian coin after 1858, but this isn't a coin, doesn't look like a coin, isn't titled anything that resembles a coin... I even tried to change the title a bit and the AI won't allow it, see photo (and last image has the title I put).

Re: Why does eBay.ca think this is a replica of a coin?

Could it possibly be that the AI is reading the parts of the letters in the words "arts and cultuRE PROgram and thinks you are saying REPRO? I know this has happened in the past but would think a newer AI would be a little smarter.

Try using Token, Medallion, or Souvenir in the title.

Re: Why does eBay.ca think this is a replica of a coin?

Plenty of similar medals are listed on Ebay:

https://www.ebay.ca/sch/i.html?_nkw=edmonton+1978+medal&_sacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p4432023.m570.l13...

Check, if you are not using one of "forbidden" words in the description.

This makes the most sense of any reason I can think of. For the other 1978 Edmonton medallions, I have listed them before, but they were not "Arts and Culture Program" medallions, just listed them as Edmonton 1978 Commonwealth Games. The Arts and Culture Program was put in the title both times I attempted to list (I had moved some words around). I will list it without this bit tomorrow night and see if that works.

Apparently there's a silver Canadian coin with the same reverse as one side of the medal, so a friend thought maybe the AI was screening the photo and thought it was a replica of that coin. But I didn't know AI was smart enough to screen photos like that. (I guess nothing about AI should surprise me).

I was not convinced with the AI explanation, so I tried myself. No problem at all - see yourself! 😀

You listed on the dot com site. I was trying to list this on dot ca site.

If the dot ca site won't let me I can just list on the dot com site.

Have you tried listing in either of these 2 categories on ca:

https://www.ebay.ca/b/Exonumia/3452/bn_1853283

https://www.ebay.ca/b/Transit-Tokens/3457/bn_2313584

From much personal testing the category map on ca has not matched the the com map in years due to lots of tinkering and other goings on under the hood. Same thing has happened to condition.

I listed now on .ca site - also without any problem. I think the issue must be on your side.

The post I marked as best answer said they thought it was because of the sequence cultuRE PROgram in the title. You didn't put that in your title, so likely what that poster suggested for the reason is true. It's not that I can't list the item, it's just that I had a forbidden sequence in my listing causing the AI to think it was a reproduction (which is the error I got when I tried to list).

I haven't tried to list it again since, been doing other things. Once I list it I'll advise.

That's the error I got (with the title that was written on the holder, with the word Programs).

Although you can list the coin, you did prove the point that if I change the title so the string "repro" isn't part of it, it would be something I can list.

Apparently in feedback there's strings of characters that it won't allow. It doesn't like the word basement because of a string of letters within.

Anyway I'll give it a shot tomorrow on my eBay.ca account this weekend.

Re: Why does eBay.ca think this is a replica of a coin?

i believe the posting is right - a'i does all the searching and kicks out everything that comes close to key words it doesn't like -- i have sold these exact coins before myself with no problem  i just did not use the word coin or coins in the heading using medal instead  -- hope this helps  also the use of  hand writing in the picture may have been a problem also---- i have run into that a few times in the past

I didn't try to list the photo with the handwriting, that was just to show you what the title was called (I photograph that so I can remember what I want to call it, but I don't post pictures with handwriting).

I still haven't tried again to list that, but I will list with titles others have suggested and not call it a "culture program" (causing the string REPRO) to appear in the title).

Try removing the third picture with the handwriting on the back and the date.

The third picture was never part of the listing, I just posted it to show what the title was.

We've already determined putting cultuRE PROgram in the title spells REPRO which the BOT didn't like.

Another poster in this thread changed their listing to have that string and got an error message as posted above.
