eBay Returns - Automatically Marked As Shipped?

So I have a buyer who can't get a phone I sold to work, and requested a return. No worries, I create a return waybill.

About a day or two later eBay marks it as "sent" yet Canada Post has not received the item yet. I've noticed this as a buyer when returning items that if I forget the system automatically shows as "In Transit"

Is this just a known glitch? I'm not worried about it too much, it's been a few days since I sent the label. The buyer I think has until the 19th to send it back, at which point if it's not returned eBay will close the case for me.

eBay Returns - Automatically Marked As Shipped?

I don't get many if any returns but I seem to think I got this sort of mixed message the last time too. At the same time as ebay was telling the buyer they had to ship the item back right away, it was telling me it had already been shipped. Eventually, the buyer did ship it back but didn't upload the tracking number so I had to do it for them and then it never really registered as received once I got it back. There were some hiccups in the automated sense of it that had to be overridden by manual updates but it all worked out in the end.
