We’ve received reports of Canada Post experiencing significant delays as a result of the unprecedented volume across its networks as well as its partners. The increased volume combined with the latest restrictions and modified processes to protect their employees and the public from the spread of COVID-19 have resulted in delays of up to 10 business days for shipments to the United States.

In response, we have adjusted our delivery dates for US-bound Canada Post services to reflect the latest delays. We have also implemented new seller protections for tracked shipments to the United States. We will automatically protect your seller performance level for Late Shipments, Item Not Received cases as well as related negative or neutral feedback when you:

  • Upload valid tracking within your handling time for your items shipped AND
  • Your tracking uploaded shows a carrier Acceptance Scan within 2 days of your handling time

For items in transit, we will keep cases open for up to 10 more days from the time a buyer asked eBay to step in to allow additional time for the item to be delivered. We will remove negative or neutral feedback related to a late delivery automatically if an item arrives late but tracking shows that you shipped on time. In addition, these  Item Not Received cases will not impact your service metrics rating.

If your primary choice of carrier is Canada Post, to protect yourself against “item not received” claims, we strongly encourage you to ship your items with a tracked service and provide the tracking number to eBay immediately after your item has been accepted by the carrier.

We also recommend offering additional shipping services from other carriers such as FedEx to provide your buyers with more options and flexibility. If you don’t have a FedEx account, consider registering for a new account to get access to exclusive eBay discounts of up to 35% on FedEx Ground services.
